Service was amazing. She came in on a Sunday just for our camping group. Now the food was just okay. Queso was too spicy way too many jalapeños in it. Food really needs an update. Overall still good I'd go again. Also salsa was way to spicy and it never use to be. Stop using so many jalapeños. Please. It was a late lunch early dinner for us. You walk in and seat yourself. We sat for a while while they decided who was going to take the table. I did what Mom always said and ate dessert first. Raspberry Cheesecake Empanadas. I had them leave off the sprinkles. Yum. My table had a taco salad, chimichanga and two enchiladas. Chicken enchiladas one diablo sauce which was ok on creamy sauce one which appeared to have some melted cheese on it but definitely not creamy. None the less all tasted ok. Their soda/pops were very large glasses. It was very quiet and an enjoyable space. Restrooms clean. Boy has this place gone downhill. Food was just OK, chips were awful. Everything is so run down and menu is extremely limited if you don't want meat. Probably never go there again. Food and service is excellent! Seating in rear addition is not satisfying 😕 and doesn't have atmosphere of other Iowa Carlos but says it is the original. Love the pre meal chips and salsa. Appetizers are no longer other then chips. Menu changed alot of items removed. Salsa not consistent. Pizza taco is not for me. Out of our table of 5. We tried some of the new meals. Several items were burned. Especially meats. Server lacked knowledge of menu items. Staff all bundled at hostess table. Kitchen staff was louder then music playing. Waited 20 minutes for a table, then 20 mins before anyone even acknowledged we wanted drinks. Left and went next door to Rio burrito. I suggest you do the same, thank you Carlos and Kelly's for ignoring me I found a much better restaurant due to it. Sincerely Never again Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We had a great waitress. It was her first day. She did excellent. And of course the food is always wonderful. Still I'd call them second on margaritas. As I still feel Villa patio is number one. But definitely worth going to this place. My friend had the chicken quesadilla. She said it was quite excellent. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Waitress was really nice but the food was horrible. Ordered a steak and chicken fajita with onion and red pepper, no sides or anything else. Came out and was definitely not sizzling like a normal fajita would be but i see the plate and there's hardly anything on it, no sauce at all and the little bit of chicken was extremely dry. Put it in the to go box and you can see how little there was, very disappointed I will not be going back! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20

Carlos has good food, pleasant staff, and a nice decor. However, for me the overhead lights in the central eating area are a little too bright when you are one of the side booths and it detracts from the atmosphere. Thankfully, they have a maze of cozy booths to the left of the bar.
