This is our second time here. We love it. It’s nothing but love and acceptance in here. The coffee and food is yummy. They have a kids play area, quiet room, and of course a variety of books! If you have kids visit! If you just wanna read a book and drink coffee, also visit! 💖

A gem place for book lovers. Very nice environment, kids friendly, good drinks and various types of books for your choices. They have a discount book section and a small gift store within as well. Highly recommended.

A Seat at the Table Books is Elk Grove's only independent bookstore with a goal of offering a wide variety of reading material focused on messages of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility to ensure that all readers can feel seen in the books they read. They regularly host events and aim to provide a safe space for all community members. Located in the Laguna Pointe complex (which offers avid book readers ample parking - always a bonus in my book), this bookstore also comes complete with a small cafe so book lovers can come in and enjoy a beverage and a snack while perusing the shelves. I arrived in the morning, deciding to drop in before work. Wanting a bite to eat while I browsed their shelves for some new reads, I also ordered a breakfast sandwich on a toasted bagel (they had other bread options as well including sourdough and croissant). Their breakfast sandwich comes with a sausage patty, egg, and cheese (choice of cheddar or pepper jack - I went with cheddar), on a bread of your choice (I went with the toasted bagel as mentioned above). The sandwich was freshly prepared and came out perfectly warm and toasted. Although simple, it was a delicious way to start off my day. Now onto the books. Although A Seat at the Table Books is not the largest bookstore I've seen, they definitely pack a wide variety of literature into their shelves. The books are neatly separated by age group (children vs. young adult vs. adult) and genre (fiction, history, romance, you name it). There's certainly something for everyone with books capturing Asian, Latin American, African American, or LGBTQ+ voices (just to name a few), truly fulfilling their mission to provide diverse literature to bookstore patrons. Staff favorites are marked with a little sticker complete with the name of the staff member recommending the books, and they even have a little section for those seeking a "Blind Date with a Book". I walked away with my little haul consisting of four books, including some titles from Asian authors that I haven't heard of previously. With the unique selection of titles A Seat at the Table books offers readers, I can safely say I'll be back in the future! If you're like me and looking to support a local community bookstore that has a great cafe with delicious drinks and snacks, A Seat at the Table Books is definitely the place for you!

Best place I could find to get computer work done without having to leave for refreshments or worry about the music being too loud for me to think. They got coffee, tea, books, free wifi, and yes, alcohol if you feel so inclined. Go there to look for a new read, work on your computer, lunch, breakfast, a quick pick-me-up, chill with fun people, or chill out by yourself. It's a place with all of the things I love! Also, it's kid friendly with a play area. And they have a quiet room if you need a break from all the stimulation.

I love this place! I come here whenever I have the chance to. The staff makes this place super awesome because they are super welcoming and friendly. I enjoy coming here to work as well as meet local people. Additionally, they have events all the time which makes this place even better. The coffee variety is awesome for those who like different flavors. I generally come here specifically for lattes because that’s my go to drink. I enjoy bringing my child here as well as they can play in the kids area. Also, I like picking up books for them here, because the selection is really unique. most of all I just like the ambience of this place as they are open to everyone and support the community. Definitely recommend it. Pros: staff, books, coffee, community Cons: popular
I just went here for the first time because I LOVE bookstores and hadn’t heard of it until recently. When I say I absolutely loved it here that is still somehow an understatement. The staff were so kind, the coffee was incredible, and it was just such a welcoming space. I was there with my 6mo daughter and she was starting to get fussy and Emily came and chatted with us and honestly it was just so nice to feel so welcome… am I getting teary right now? Yep. Oops. Anyway I love this place and even though it’s not super close to my house I will 100% be making the trip again very very soon. Also everyone I know is getting books and stickers from here for Christmas. It is the way 🤷‍♀️
We just discovered this place! Excellent Cappucino. Surrounded by books, the atmosphere reminds me of San Francisco coffee houses in the 1970s. It's a place of peace: a nice alternative to chain franchise assembly line coffee outlets. We are coming again for that peaceful respite moment in the day.

Love this bookstore! They have a cafe inside with lots of yummy snacks, sandwiches, and drinks. They serve Grateful Bread products, which is a local Sac bakery. There are lots of tables, free Wi-Fi, and they encourage you to come in and study/work at their tables. All the employees are beyond nice.

A delightful hidden gem for the LGBT community in the Sacramento metropolitan area. Wonderful selection of teas, coffee and pastries to enjoy while you browse the stacks, and friendly staff to help you find the book you were looking for or discover something you never knew you were missing. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area, or as a cute outing on a afternoon, or even as a place to work in peace with a nice breakfast on weekday mornings!

Fabulous! I got a Queer Tarot Deck that I am VERY excited about! Plus some cool stickers and cards. I listen to audio books so I was glad they had info about how to purchase them through the store at Libro.fm
