We were served some sort of sauce and chips. The sauce was in the tiniest little cups...not nearly enough (2 oz). We had to ask for 4 more and still wasnt enough... it was more like enchilada sauce, not a salsa at all. I ordered a pina colada, it was flavorless. More like a slushy and no coconut flavor or alcohol. I asked my husband to try it to make sure it wasnt just me. He agreed. My husband got his food before I did (chimichanga dinner). It was a full 10 min before I got mine (forgot what it was called but basically 3 grilled chicken tacos with rice and beans) and that was after making eye contact with the waitress and her doing a 180 back to the kitchen. Waitress didn't write the order down, went off memory. I had asked for no Pico and she misunderstood and thought I said no beans. Food was good, not great. She did ask if we wanted dessert (which I originally wanted a slice of tres leche cake)but my husband was ready to go and after waiting for my food I was too. The ambiance and atmosphere was pleasant/cheerful. It was clean and nicely decorated. We might return to try the Chile rellenos, but at a less busy time. It was a Friday evening around 6 and no parking. Many were parking on the side of the service road. It wasn't a flop, just a bit unpleasant with watching my husband eat his food and then him having to watch me. Lol. We also did not get a discount for the mess ups. That's on the waitress. She should have recognized the issue and offered a discount or a free dessert.. or at least an apology. Like I said.. not a flop and might return because No One serves fried Chile rellenos anymore and she assured us that they did. This has been mine and my boyfriend's new spot for fajitas. But the best part is the skinny jalapeno margaritas with a tajin rim. I have them removed the orange due to a citrus allergy and they're always accommodating! Last time we went in we felt rushed by our server but we are hoping that was a one time thing. The food is a absolutely delicious, came out quickly, and was outstandingly prepared. All the ingredients are so fresh and there are NO bad choices on the menu!! The staff was friendly and responsive. The restaurant itself has a wonderful ambience and is perfect for a date night or to bring out friends and family. Very charming decore and warm colors really wrap the entire dining experience here into a phenomenal experience from start to finish. Since I live in Southern California, I get some of the best Mexican food you can ask for, being I live so close to the border. Azul is in the middle of Northwest, Arkansas, thus, don't get your expectations up if you want true authentic. That being said, the food wasn't bad. It was decent, just not the best. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. The enchiladas were stuffed fat, with tender shredded chicken. The mole sauce was good. It had a good balance of sweetness of the chocolate mixed with the savoriness in the sauce and the spice of the chilies. The rice was a bit bland, which is a downer, as I love rice. Mexican rice done well should pop with flavor. I make amazing Mexican rice, and always get compliments and people wanting more. This was just a bit disappointing. Our service was okay. The server didn't go out of her way at all, but was polite. The only thing I noticed there was 0 smile whatsoever at any time during out visit. She wasn't rude or impolite, but a bland stare on her face and quick one line requests and responses made it feel awkward. Again, she was polite, not rude, just not present. Another weird thing is that our food came in waves. We had a party of 5, and they brought a third of our dishes at a time, and brought some dishes to the table next to us at the same time. They came 3 times to serve all our food, so we all had to wait a bit until everyone at our table got its food.
