I've been here several times (most recently for my rehearsal dinner) and the food never disappoints. Everything is so fresh, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the décor is charming. Don't be fooled by its location slightly away from the main bustle of the Old Port - Helm is a must visit when you're in Portland. My husband and I enjoyed Happy Hour at Helm. Ally was personable and very knowledgeable. Her Oyster recommendations were spot on. I also loved their selection of French wines, as well. Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Had an amazing meal here - did the Chef’s Choice which was super fun and gave us a great sampling of their delicious menu. Dined with the family. Four generations. The menu is limited, but everyone loved their meal. Service is friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the offerings Desserts were delicious, especially the panacotta and chocolate cake. A little loud. Food was good, beware smaller portions, modern style. The staff were a bit too attentive, they kept taking away plates and cutlery even though we were not all having multiple courses. We spend 5 nights in Portland/Bar Harbor and had all meals at restaurants. Helm was hands-down the best meal we had while on our trip. The food quality was excellent, freshest seafood, creatively prepared, and the service was outstanding. Will eat here again without question.
