saw many good reviews regarding the vegetable tempura and decided to try it out. it is really delicious and tasty! the tempura was lightly battered, and they have carrot, sweet potato, lady fingers, lotus etc
as for the hoto dish, not really used to the taste. it is like ban mian (in miso soup) since it is flat udon.
water is self service. they have english menu there which is a bonus! its abit pricey to eat here.

Went there for the famous local noodle soup “Hoto” which was recommended by our villa host. We did not disappoint. Staff were lovely and of course we went for what we came for, hoto. The broth was rich and the bowl was packed with mushrooms and seasonal veggies. The thick noodle was chewy and full of flavour. It’s just delicious. But be warned, the serving is huge. Their special homemade chilli was yummy too. Definitely give it a try…. And check out the full on Christmas shop next door 😄

Did not planned for this place as I got disappointed by another instagrammable hoto on a day earlier, but ended up taste quite good. The outdoor seat came with comfort weather and beautiful mt Fuji view, it became one of the most memorable meal.
Thumbs up for their Kyoho grape juice and spicy sesame sauce is really a good complement for their hoto noodle.
Tempura restaurant This restaurant offers only eel tempura. Some hot pot sets are vegetable soup. The bowl is very big and delicious. As for the eels, they come in full. I've almost finished eating in the shop there are antiques to show as well. Recommend grape juice, good taste, and good service, but there are early close.

When I was visiting the mount Fuji region, one of the things on my bucket list was eating Hoto noodles. Since I failed getting my Hoto noodles the evening before, I had one chance left, and that was during lunch time. I came over at this place at 12:00 and after I was seated it became busier, so right in time. I chose the Hoto Pork set for ¥1780 and this includes a big bowl of noodles and some vegetable tempura on the side. The last one came a bit later. I really like the noodles, because they are really different from other noodles I had before. A welcoming surprise! You can spice up the noodles with some spicy paste. There is by the way plenty of free parking spots in front of the door.

Worth the 30-minute wait in the sun! This was some of the best noodles and tempura my partner and I have had in Japan, and I've lived here for +5 years. We got the typical hōtō and the cold udon set. Everything tasted homemade, fresh, and seasonal. The hōtō was super tasty and nourishing. The udon had a great texture. The tempura was fresh and not too greasy. The local grape juice was tasty and refreshing, too. We sat in the shade outside, and the staff gave my partner a stool since his back issues prevent him from sitting cross legged for too long. This was also notably a dog friendly establishment.

Highly recommended. As vegetarian, it's always not easy to find a restaurant that has something traditional as well as meets (all or mostly) our diet requirements in Japan. Surprisingly this is one.
It was just at a right time to read a new review of this restaurant from a vegetarian customer when we are on the way to look for dinner.
Although this is not a vegetarian restaurant. The waiter can speak fair English, they understand our needs and suggest us their vegetable (vegetarian) Hoto and tempura rice box. Both are tasty, big portion, and with reasonable price. Extra thanks to them they even take out alliums for us! Their handmade chilli has fish so we didn't give it a try.
Adding to it, this restaurant locates close to the attractive spots, there's also a free parking on the opposite of the street.

Love the food, it is excellent. The ambience from hundred years old building is magic. The service also very good, they have menu in english. Beside food, they sell some unique stuff. And some souvenirs too. they have indoor seating, outdoor seating when the weather allows. One of the best hotto in the place. Must visit.

Serves hoto which is a local Yamansihi variant of the udon but with a very different preparation of the dough giving different texture. Very hearty and delicious. Their conger eel tempura is also very good.
