Been to this bar a couple of times when visiting Philly. Really enjoyed each visit. If you enjoy a piano bar, this one is really nice. The drinks are good, and when I was there, the piano was wonderful. Terrific piano player, who had a lot of music books for people to choose from if they wanted to exercise their pipes. The player was great, and had a terrific voice and style. A very good song stylist. Drinks are good, and the bartenders attentive and quick. There is a restaurant downstairs (reachable from separate entrance from the street) that was excellent! And if you're lucky enough to have John as your waiter, it's even nicer. I'd highly recommend the Lo Mein dish! Overall, a very fun place to spend an evening! Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Had a great experience at this tavern. The live piano was a nice touch. Blueberry Lemonade cocktail was delicious 😋 Deviled Eggs were yummy. It was the perfect casual, yet sophisticated, place for conversation over an adult beverage. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

A staple of the Philly gay community and one of the best places to gather and to meet new people. The Piano Bar is fantastic (especially when Max is playing - go see him on Tuesday nights after 9). There’s one or two piano players I don’t care for - they don’t know even basic show tunes; IMO, a pre-requisite for a gay piano bar…you need to have, at least, a few Sondheim & Jerry Herman hits in your repertoire. Don’t sleep on the restaurant on the bottom level! Very cozy, attentive & friendly service, and really good, uncomplicated food. A hidden gem, especially for a cute little date night in the gayborhood.

Definitely a fine place to have a cold drink and watch a big screen tv. We've been there so often over the past two years. They have a piano bar upstairs. Great atmosphere and awesome service. Their food is absolutely delicious. We usually go to the downstairs bar. Clean bathroom. It is located in the gayborhood. But so many straight people go there as well. Definitely a place where we typically end up in conversation with someone. It has a friendly vibe and is very safe. I highly recommend this establishment. You've got to try this place. Tavern is my favorite gay bar in town. I feel safer here than any others in the area. My girlfriend and I always have a great time. Plus they do line dancing upstairs once a week. It’s the best! Pianist was begging for tips and was heckling those who were singing. I was here on September 27 night in case you guys wonder which pianist. Bar is great but pianist ruins the experience being pissy about tips and announcing every second that they don’t get paid enough. I love Tavern but why did your security guy on 01:50 AM on 01/07/2024 fought me outside for waiting on my drunk friend? I don't understand. He even touched me and lifted me OUTSIDE and moved me over the street. Say thanks that I didn't call police for that. Just for WAITING MY DRUNK FRIEND OUTSIDE! Ridiculous! You at least owe me an apology.

We were here for a large lgbtq sports tournament. While the bar itself is great and the DJ on Thursday night, 7/13, was fabulous...However.. I have worked in lgbtq bars for almost 18 years...I have never experienced such awful security like I did here the 3 times we went, different times, different days. Every other bar this was not an issue except for here. Consistently throughout the weekend we heard of negative experiences. You have an amazing venue that I wish could be duplicated across the country...but please re-evaluate your security.
