Looking through past reviews and was drawn to the fact that the restaurant has a view of the castle and nice scenery. However the 3 tables facing the window with a view is only available upon booking nonetheless, we still were welcomed with the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant and were well seated at a corner. The food was delightful too. I ordered the fish cake dish and was pleasantly surprised with the quality since fish cake tend to be mushy. This was differently. The fish cake crust was well cooked and its inside were well stuffed with prawns. Both my gf and I enjoyed the food and as mentioned in the other reviews, the price is very reasonable too. 2 main dishes costs us £19. On our trip to Edinburgh, we had dinner here on the final night and I cannot imagine a better place to pick for your last dinner. We were lucky enough to be sat by the windows at the back of the restaurant with a great view of Edinburgh Castle lit up at night. Views aside, the food was absolutely fantastic. We had olives for starters (delicious, I nearly asked the waiters where they got them from, they were that good), with steak & chips and gnocchi for mains, followed by a chocolate and orange pave and baked figs for dessert. All of it was delicious and I could not recommend going here for a meal more. Amazing food at reasonable price for lunch. I ordered a seafood stew which came with bread n coffee after meal was 12pounds. The pesto m butter that came with the bread was great too. but the restaurant was busy on 23 Dec so i waited for my food for more than 30 mins but the waiters were smart enough to follow up my order.
