The factory wasn't working because we were there on the weekend. They offered different samples. They were decked out for Valentine's Day. Could not ask for a better welcome. Hostesses handed out treat samples at the front door and Kona coffee samples a little further up. Soooo many delicious choices. Do not pass up the sandwich / ice cream counter in the back. Service Take out Price per person $1–10 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I think it was my father in law that introduced me to these folks, and I’ve been ordering from them ever since. In an odd twist of fate, I had sent a couple boxes to my sister in Alabama, within hours of her receiving them, I found myself at Big Island Candies flagship in Hilo. Haven’t been to Hilo in decades, so we had to stop by. Naturally I grabbed a few more boxes for friends back in CA. Not only delicious, they make great gifts.

Here’s what you need to know. It’s an absolutely beautiful and inviting store serving Hawaiian style treats. The cookies were amazing. The service was excellent. The brownies and Kona coffee were disappointing. We ended up buying ice cream for the kids (not made in house but partnered with a local creamery) and a box of macadamia nut chocolate covered brownies for ourselves. Unfortunately the latter was pretty bad, otherwise we would have definitely given them 5 stars. It is pricey but high quality confectionery.

The best gift from the islands to share with anyone who appreciates a quality cookie, brownie, chocolate, coffee, or a combination of them all! Honolulu cookie co tries to make a similar product but don’t be fooled — this one is no ka oi! The gift assortment boxes are the best way to try all the different sweets. I particularly love the dark chocolate dipped shortbread, and any of the brownies. You really can’t go wrong with any of them though.
