Appetizer: grilled Spanish octopus, a bit too salty but the texture was done so perfectly. 3.5/5. Entree: braised beef short ribs, super tender and not dry at all. A 5/5 dish. Side: warm white bean, very hearty and not too salty. The olive did not overpowering the taste of the beans. 5/5 We also ordered fries because my partner is a picky eater. It was just a standard bar fries. 4/5 Overall I enjoyed my time at Cella, did not disappoint. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I won’t be back. TLDR: experienced single diner bias, service and quality issues. Details: I arrived and there seemed to be some hosting confusion. My ordering experience and menu Q&A with server were good. I specifically asked about burger prep and the server indicated Cella’s burger was prepared medium rare, and she assured me it would be cooked as such. After ordering, I had little to no service, with occasional waitstaff visits with water and my food. Burger was cooked medium to medium well. I was not provided enough ketchup for my fried and had to flag for more. I observed tables around me (couples and parties of four) receiving significantly different - personal - service. I had money to spend. Left feeling like Cella definitely didn’t value parties of one. They definitely don’t know how to cook meat. Pretty sour and as a local, I’ll definitely spread the word. Excellence! Masterful meals, professional and friendly service, and a beautiful setting. The octopus was truly special! The cocktails were top class! My honey and I are foodies — picky about quality and experienced in fine dining — and we enjoyed this restaurant very much! We’ve tried several spots in Monterey and would recommend Cella. I wish I could give Cella a sixth star. It is one of the best restaurants that I have been to. Our story started in the late morning when we were having brunch at Alta, the bakery next door. The smell coming out from Cella was so homely delicious that we could not resist booking a reservation for that same night. The staff is so welcoming and trained professionals. We ordered a bottle of Alsace Riesling, fresh meaty oysters and freshly herbed tuna tartare to start. For entrees we ordered the pasta with mushrooms and the lamb ribeye, which is a must. The service here is phenomenal! Kudos to the lovely servers, they really made our entire night! Gave us the perfect recommendations - the Brussels sprouts with pork belly, the grilled octopus and the braised beef ribs. Would come back here over and over 🥰 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It took 45 minutes from the time we were sat to recieve drinks. It was over an hour after we were sat that we received the amouse bouche. The four courses were decent at best. The onions in my soup were almost raw and the fish appeared boiled, dry and flavorless. Additionally, orders were being confused and misdelivered to ours and surrounding tables. After all of this, we were charge a 20% "large party" rate for the two of us on a price fixed menu. Overpriced and unpleasant experiance.
