Fleming Dr, Morganton, North Carolina * My friend and I recently visited Habaneros Mexican Restaurant after a long day at work, eager to indulge in some delicious tacos. However, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment from the moment we stepped in. Upon arrival, we were informed by the waiter that the beef they were serving had been sitting for over six weeks. This raised immediate concerns about the freshness and quality of the ingredients. We had encountered a similar issue during a previous visit, where the meat appeared under-cooked. Despite expressing our concerns to the owner, we were met with excuses rather than a genuine effort to rectify the situation. To our dismay, the owner seemed preoccupied with attending to other guests and failed to address our concerns adequately. It was evident that the restaurant was struggling to maintain its standards of food quality and customer service. We were left feeling neglected and disregarded as paying customers. In light of these circumstances, we made the decision to leave without placing an order. However, our departure was met with unnecessary hostility from the staff, who followed us out and began yelling and threatening to involve the police. Overall, our experience at Habaneros Mexican Restaurant was nothing short of disappointing. The lack of attention to food quality and customer satisfaction is concerning, and the hostile behavior exhibited by the staff was unacceptable. As much as we hoped for a pleasant dining experience, we left feeling utterly disillusioned. We cannot recommend this restaurant to others until significant improvements are made. The last time I ate here wasn't so great. My burrito came out and the hamburger meat wasn't fully cooked at all. Neither was my friends food. Halfway cooked thru. Told the manager the issue all he said is yeah we been having problems with that lately. He left nothing else to say. He didnt bother to get us something else to eat or anything. About as authentic (close to home recipes) as you can get. Try the Tres Leches, the tamales, and the chile relleno. I will say this: only thing that turned me off was the corn tortillas. These were the ones I don't like- the smell is way too intense. I found out from an ex-boyfriend (who is Mexican) that these are the ones that are pumped full of calcium, whereas the standard ones aren't. Salsa bar- It's fabulously fresh, but very hot. I would have loved to have pickled onions, but not with habaneros in them. Very appreciative for the talents of the staff. :) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
