My Special Ladyfriend and I like to seek out little "hidden gem" places that are small and unassuming that most people would walk past. I mention this because I believe that we found one here. The service was excellent, the food was amazing, and I atmosphere was good. We both had the pho with rare steak and it was absolutely fantastic! The broth that they use is perfect and is lava hot, so you can watch the rare steak cook in front of you. The crab and cream cheese wontons are some of the best that I have ever had. Our server was very good, making sure that we had what we needed and that everything was good. The atmosphere is simple but clean. The main attraction is the food. My husband and I both had the rare beef brisket pho and vegetable spring roles. Having come from Toronto where Vietnamese restaurants are delicious and plentiful, I was looking for a spot to satisfy my craving. This place finally hit tye spot. It was delicious and abundant just like back home. Friendly atmosphere by what looked like a nice family who ran the place. Even the younger ones were kind and hospitable. Okay, honest review. Normally, this place is a consistent 3-star rating. Because of that, we only visit about once every 3-4 months. I’ve eaten pho all over the country and in Vietnam. However, tonight the quality and taste of the food was a 5-star event. So I split the difference. Would gladly revise this to a permanent 5-star rating, but need to see more of the quality I saw tonight. Great job, keep up the good work. Pho 85 has some of the best Thai in Des Moines! The tofu pad Thai and Thai Iced Tea are always my go to’s. Food always comes out quickly and staff is extremely helpful and even helped my friend pack up her Pho! 10/10 recommend them.
