1st Time visit! Omg. I’m not a huge fan of cakes and cupcakes BUT the cupcake that I had was absolutely delightful! I purchased the almond buttercream known as the wedding cake, I believe… the lady at the counter was very welcoming to me and my children. I will visit again.
For my husband's bday, we thought we would get cupcakes. So my son and I went in to scout them out. He has late stage EOAD, and sweetness is one of the few things he can still appreciate. We placed an order for a dozen cupcakes tomorrow and bought an extra "wedding cake" cupcake and a "stuffed cookie" to sample today. They were delicious. The girl working the counter was very polite, thorough, patient and running things single-handedly. God love her. BUT!!...when we were given the "Rewards" card, we were only given credit for buying a single cupcake. WHAT??? Nothing for the cookie? The other dozen cupcakes for tomorrow? We spent $59.31! I got an entire two tiered cake for $10 more at a bakery when he turned 60! When we queried about this craziness, she expressed how she wonders the same thing...why is credit for pre-ordered cupcakes not given - you are still buying cupcakes. When I asked who makes this policy? She wasn't sure. I asked about a manager...but one wasn't available. Further, there is a discount if you buy a dozen cupcakes, but not if you buy 18 cupcakes. Someone needs to re-evaluate how they want to show their appreciation. Especially when you consider that "Nothing Bundt Cakes" is literally in the same shopping area down the way, just past the Culvers and BJ's...and those things are delicious and adorable too. A "Small" 3min trip.
Alternatives, something to think about, huh?
I will see how I am feeling after we pick up the dozen tomorrow and evaluate some more of these flavors with my husband.
For now, I would rather they never even mentioned the "Rewards Card." There is something hollow about it and it makes me feel deceived somehow and unappreciated as a customer.
Again, right - down - the - street...you have other options.
UPDATE: When I picked up my cupcakes, I asked if this person was the manager... she said, "No, did I need a manager?" I explained the above. There still seemed to be confusion. A manager overheard from the back, joined the conversation and clarified. There is a place on the rewards card to click a larger heart for the full dozen, even on a pre-order, and she profusely apologized for all the misinformation. She even gave me two cards for free cupcakes as a "good will gesture" which was very nice of her.
I've kept back one star for all of the confusion with both girls in the front. Also, the cupcakes were a smidge on the dry side. They should consider putting filling in all of them maybe. That was the only cupcake that seemed really moist.
