I want to start off by saying that I drive one hour to enjoy las gorditas that Los Desvelados has to offer. One hour to get there and one hour to go back home. I never had an issue with service or food orders, all the waitresses have been efficient and professional. Today I ordered my usual, carnitas gorditas. But surprisingly I received al pastor gorditas. This was not a problem, the problem arose when I politely let the waiter know about the error and he decided to lecture me about pork. That I had said I wanted pork gorditas which he assumed meant al pastor. Had I said “pork” isn’t it his job as a waiter to ask me whether I meant al pastor or carnitas? I politely let him know that this is my usual and there’s no way I made a mistake. He proceeded to lecture me and said they would give me my correct order this once. The carnitas gorditas were brought out without any utensils as well. So I just asked for a box to go. Service for me is everything, I’ll drive wherever and however long as long as the food and service is good. And today was really disappointing. This is the "No Manches Naca" strawberry margarita accompanied by a carne asada "Suchi Roll". If you're in the area and want tasty, creative, Mexican food, strong drinks and loud Mexican music, this is a must visit spot!! ¡¡No se rajen!! BTW, there are families with kids here. So my partner wanted to come here. I blame her for this. Still, I love her so I feel I must write this. She wanted to try this place after seeing it on Instagram. I was hesitant but we came. There was seating, we arrived at around 6PM. We were seated outdoors. Which was good since every time we have passed it other times it seems there's a really long line always and just overall chaos. I looked through the menu and I couldn't figure it out. There was some gimmicky items with flamin hot cheetos and nacho cheese, but it seemed it was mostly a different variety of tacos. They looked good in the pictures. My partner ordered "La Mamalona" reference to the whole "no quema cuh" truck craze, which is fine. It was the name of a quesadilla. It looked boring and basic but my partner reported it to be good. I ordered two shrimp tacos, two chilorio tacos, two "tacos desvelados" and a "gringa." The shrimp in the shrimp tacos was supposed to be fried but the breading was soggy. It was all over the place in general and was not good. I left a taco and a half. Chilorio was good and it tasted fresh, but I felt the tacos were just missing something. Or maybe the avocado in it was out of place The tacos desvelados were the best thing about the place, mostly because of the sauce and the crunchy tortilla made them taste fresh. The gringa was underwhelming and the meat tasted funny. Odd. Dry. It had shrimp too. It seems they put shrimp in a lot of their dishes but the shrimp tasted old on everything that it was in. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I thought that maybe I was supposed to be drunk to enjoy the food. But then I tried the strawberry margarita my partner ordered and it had mango on top instead of strawberry pieces when she ordered the strawberry margarita. It was a red strawberry margarita with mango pieces on top instead of strawberry. I would have got drunk, but then when I sipped it it tasted like unflavored blended ice. Like they just colored the blended ice red. No flavor. At all. Flavor of anything. Alcohol, strawberry, nothing. It felt like it was a water margarita colored red with mango pieces on top. So again, even if I wanted to get drunk this drink didn't make it inviting at all to try anything else for myself. I left most of my food. When I asked for the check and I waited, the waiter brought my receipt and told me to check it to make sure everything got charged correctly. While I was doing it he stood there, feeling pressured and awkward I just said yeah everything is fine and gave him my card. There was literally crowds of people waiting. So I understand him. It was a bit surreal. Finally, I added a picture of my receipt to this review so you can see the message on the bottom. It makes sense now why they have the message. It seems food is not their thing, my guess would be drinks are their thing but I don't think either are because of my experience today. My guess would be the ambience but then they were just blasting a poor Bluetooth connected speaker in the patio that kept losing connection to their Bluetooth device. When I left, the parking lot was getting packed. The area crowded. So it's something. Too bad I won't be going back to find out what it is. God bless this place and I am glad they are doing well since they have a lot of locations it seems like. In terms of this place, I have just shared my experience. Try it for yourself. Tacos burritos and sea food are the bomba! 11 out of 10!! Great selection and kids meal includes a drink. We enjoyed the service, and the staff is friendly, kids friendly too! The food was really good. It was hard to choose just one dish, so I ordered two🤤 there are some healthier selections in the back of the menu. OMG the aguas are sooo good too. I'm not a drinker, but I bet their fruity alcoholic drinks are yummy... 🍻🍹They look it!!! It gets pretty busy for dinner, so realize that the service takes a hit. Had a great experience… Francisco was our server and he was great, all smiles and ready to serve, took his time to explain and answer questions about the difference in tacos or burritos, well any of the food. Pretty good spot in Maywood. I came here on a Monday. Unfortunately, they only had outdoor seating because they are remodeling the interior. The big yellow letters make the restaurant stand out. I got the street tacos and Baja. The tacos came inside a homemade tortilla. I have to admit the tacos were pretty good and big too. The horchata was just perfect not too sweet. The cucumber lemonade was pretty good too very refreshing. I can tell this is a popular spot because even though it was a Monday people started showing up after 730. The food was okay and very pricey, but considering the large portions it kinda breaks a little even…. The Caveza tacos were excellent! The Carne Asada was too marinated for me which loses the flavor of the meat, it was disappointingly dry. They had three salsas were probably one of the best salsas I’ve ever tasted. I had to smother the food with salsa to live it up. I asked our waiter if some of the other tacos came with Guacamole…. It just seemed that he wanted us to order the other tacos they had came with Guacamole and really didn’t offer to add, he seemed too much in a hurry. The wait was very long. It’s a good place to experience, a good atmosphere I like the way they fix the outside to eat with a tarp and plants. I’d like to add the music wasn’t too loud, most Mexican places you go to the music is way too loud. Here we were able to talk over the music not the music over us. Honestly I like to go to restaurants that surprised me, not restaurants that are hit and miss, that one thing is good and the other is not….
