What not to love! We stayed in Traverse City for 2 and a half days. Two of the days we ate here it was that good. We were there during peak time and a slow time and both times the service and food were of great quality. The table favorite was the Black Cherry Pancakes. Just get them, no hesitation! Finally tried this place for an early dinner. I love perch so of course ordered the all you can eat dinner for $22. I didn’t end up ordering additional as I didn’t even eat the first serving. Perch should always be lightly pan fried since it’s a delicate fish but they only serve deep fried. The breading was so heavy that I could hardly taste the fish at all. Dinner came with two sides. The Caesar salad was good but the broccoli was cold. The service was fine but they weren’t busy. I don’t think I’ll be back. And I won’t be eating fried fish again anytime soon. We were on a weekend getaway to Traverse City and one thing I wanted before heading back home, was an order of blueberry pancakes. I heard good things about the breakfasts here and what I heard turned out to be true! We had a great breakfast! The blueberry pancakes were wonderful! The coffee was really good, too! My fiance' enjoyed his biscuits and gravy as well. When we first put our name in, they said it would be about a 30 minute wait, but it turned out to be only 15 minutes! This is a cozy, home style restaurant that I would definitely recommend. The staff was friendly, the food was great, the portions were very generous and the prices were very reasonable! I ordered a veggie omelette and asked for the toast to be substituted for cherry pancakes. Both the omelette and pancakes were delicious. The cherry topping was of the right sweetness. I had placed a carryout order for the seafood platter. My order was ready as promised. The seafood platter had a generous portion of shrimp, perch, and cod. You had a choice of 2 sides. I'd gone with the fries and baked sweet potato. It was simply delicious! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The perch is fire! We had them as an appetizer (buffalo perch pieces) and they were super delicious. We also had a burger and fries which was equally delicious. Our waitress was so sweet and the atmosphere was very "home" like. Yes the place need some updating, but the food is fantastic! Went to The Cottage for breakfast at 1030, and it was pretty busy for a Saturday morning. The Host, servers, and busboys were extremely welcoming and nice. They were even able to accommodate our party's vegetarian requests! I ordered the Grand Omlette with the Black Cherry pancakes and it was absolutely incredible! Not too sweet (coming from an Asian person, you should know that's the highest of compliments) and the portions were huge. Couldn't even finish my portion. Also must trys, the banana nut French toast, the ribs, and the black cherry cobbler. Still dreaming about the cobbler and pancakes. Also met the owner and he was a fantastic guy! We really liked The Cottage for breakfast. And, if they had served wine, we would have gone back for dinner! I had biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs and my friend had a spinach omelet and hash browns. Both meals were very good. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. I’ve been here a few times and have really liked everything. The atmosphere is very relaxed and everyone was very nice. All the food seemed very fresh and homemade! In the picture was the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo- I believe pot roast sandwich (the pot roast was good, mashed potatoes were bland but average) and chicken noodle soup (very good).
