Super bummed to see the original location in San Marcos close (only temporarily hopefully) after being a regular there for several years now. But looking forward to the revamp of Restaurant Row that I think Ascend is tentatively planning to take a spot in. In the meantime, there is this new location in La Costa that is, of course, just as good as the original! Honestly and sincerely, this is some of the best coffee in San Diego, on par with places like Bird Rock, Mostra, and Archers Arrow. Literally, just try anything, especially if it has espresso in it. They’ve got some pretty tasty food items too. Avocado toast and chipotle breakfast burrito are my favorites. (Although, they need to start selling potato chips again.😉)

I was so bummed when the original location inevitably closed but if you're looking for the best coffee shop in north county you can still find it at their new location! Everything from the cold brew to the wraps are top notch! Definitely check out Ascend Coffee!

Delicious Food, Great Pastries, Fantastic Coffee. I have tried ALL their coffee blends and recommend them all! I order online and pickup in store, but suggest everyone to spend time in the cafe. Calming environment and great staff. The owner is very welcoming and generous with her time. I've spoken with her on various occasions about her ethically sourced coffee beans, and how she brews everything locally. 10/10

Wonderful new coffee shop in La Costa. The coffee is delicious and reasonably priced compared to other places. When you enjoy your coffee and food at the restaurant, they give you a real mug and plate which is a really nice touch.
I had a cold brew and California burrito while my wife had a honey vanilla Latte and cheese Danish. They were all excellent. The cold brew was very smooth and not bitter at all. The burrito was huge, more than I could finish, but delicious with the salsa it comes with. The Latte was very tasty too and not too sweet, while the Danish was flaky and wonderful. Everything is house made there which is super cool. Give Ascend a shot, you won't be disappointed. Nice to support a local business in Carlsbad and San Marcos.

Warming inviting atmosphere, great coffee and I love their fresh pastries. Service is speedy and staff is courteous. I usually order online and pickup in store, but recommend anyone to spend time in the cafe. It's great to see that they have expanded, I first heard about ASCEND in San Marcos. Heavily recommend over dated big chain mass produced coffee. I suggest their Loloru Dark Roast blend, I have personally bought over a dozen bags to brew at home.
