We really enjoyed our meals at Baalee. Iwona was more than happy to accommodate our vegan and vegetarian requests. The food was fresh and flavourful. The service was super quick. It was a bit pricey but not too bad by Norwegian standards (2 of us ordered cider and we ordered a large salad to share). We ordered the fish soup, smoked trout salad, vegetarian pasta, grilled salmon, and tomato soup. Everything was excellent and the portions were big. We would definitely recommend.

Nice restaurant and very nice ladies but the fish soup was average… and I didn’t finish my soup when she came with the baked salmon (main course!) so I had to quickly finish my soup so I don’t eat a cold salmon and smashed potatoes. The apple juice was bad quality unfortunately (I’m an expert in apple juice).
The service was good though.

Excellent food, smiling service and good value for money by Norwegian standards. Our 2x dinner cost about 600 Kr which was decent. We didn’t need a reservation. Pasta with scampi, baked chicken, chicken salad, grilled salmon - all were very tasty.

Lovely owner, lovely place, beautiful view, generous portions, great value (actually cheap even for Norwegian standards), professional presentation and last but not least, the taste of each and every meal on the menu was to die for! I cannot express how pleasantly surprised we were! At first we were a little sceptical about all the 5 star reviews, but when we sat down and ate the food, we understood immediately. Absolutely recommended to go and see for yourself

Absolutely wonderful dinner! We had pig wings (pork shank) and the salmon dinner - plus an ice cream chocolate dessert - couldn't have been better! Plus nice wine and beer. Looks like other drinks available. Don’t miss it if you would like a very nice dinner!

The owner, a very sweet and funny woman, told us that she want to feed people the way that she would like to be fed. This really shows when looking at her meals. Not only is the food delicious, the chef obviously does not hold back in adding the ingredients that are usually more scarce (and often the best part of the meal). Especially looking at the scampi pasta, the ratio between scampi and pasta was fantastic. This is than also of course a meal I would recommend. For further recommendations, my travel companion wants to add that the fish soup is amazing, and that even fish skeptics (which she herself can be) should give it a try. Overall this was a great meal, and if we had more time in balestrand we would definetely come back. Cost wise it is a really great value, especially for norwegian standards. For 2 people we had a 3 course meal (shared desert, but it is once again a very generous portion) for a little under 1.000 nok total, which it was more than worth.
