The pros : surprisingly pleasant setting , despite the low ceiling. Efficient service (to be fair we were the only table occupied at the time of our visit so it is hard to judged of performance with a busy service). Good preparation of the dishes and good presentation. The cons : dishes would be perfect if prepared with better quality ingredients. Risotto was a bit bland. Had the largest and most delicious truffle calzone ever! My companion had the five cheese pizza and loved it. Maria, our server, took excellent care of us and even offered us each a complimentary drink. The ambiance is magical. I wish I had the time to return. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We noticed this cosy little restaurant after arriving to St Julian’s. It is also recommended in the Bradt guide to Malta & Gozo. We ordered our food. I had the sea bass roast potatoes and fresh vegetables and my husband had the Garganelli Maltese (Maltese sausage pan fried with butter, onions, garlic and cherry tomatoes topped with crispy kale) and just a few minutes in we were simply blown away. My fish was cooked to perfection. The staff are so friendly and happy especially Daryna and the smiley Maria. We were so delighted we went back the very next night and I went off piste from the menu and asked for a pappardelle with chicken cream onion garlic and topped with crispy kale. The chef happily obliged. My husband devoured the pizza rosso smothered with black olives, ham, egg, onion. Tomato, cheese etc. We couldn’t leave without trying the delicious tiramasu. And it was 5 star all round. Don’t miss this little gem when visiting Malta. Really cosy place. Vegan menu available and the beet root pizza was great! Not filled with people, but (1) tables with people eating alone which says a lot about the place and (2) lots of pick up for delivery. Good location in Spinola bay. Nice and quite place! Oven baked pizza was on another level, so were the pasta with extra parmesan. You should definitely try it!
