This was my first time visiting this restaurant, I was meeting up a friend for their lunch. The service was outstanding, not one complaint there. They were very helpful, polite, and flexible with the menu. I was on a strict diet, and they were able to accommodate my needs. The food itself was just pleasant, I know chicken and salmon can be challenging to cook. It was just a bit dry, but the flavors were very tasty. The atmosphere during lunch was nice, not too busy, luckily for us with only an hour. If you're in a rush, you might want to let them know. The food could take a while to get. It was a Saturday afternoon and it seemed like the waitresses were few, however the ones there were taking care of business. The food never disappoints, it's big potions, presentable and happy hour is great. Big circular bar in the middle, dark atmosphere cozy booths. It's a bit hard to get into that little center on the corner of 2nd/Hamner but once you find this gem it will be your favorite. Updated review 12/11/23 I was so excited to see this restaurant on Groupon, I wanted to give them another try because the food was absolutely delish the first time around. Arrived on a Wednesday around 630pm, they had quite the crowd, didn’t wait long maybe 5 mins to get seated. I read on their menu the turkey burger was bussin and my friend had the fish and chips last time, so I already knew ahead of time what we would be ordering. The service was a bit slow, kinda friendly (so so) Both the meals came out at the same time and I was so disappointed that the fries were ice cold, I sent them back right away and she didn’t make new ones instead they just dipped them back in the fryer to get them warm. The fries were terrible, fish and chips over breaded and fried too long it was dark (I always take pictures and because we were in the moment, I didn’t get any) Nonetheless, the burger was ok, the Texas chili was good but overall, I am a bit disappointed in this place….. 05/24/23 Black Horse Tavern and Grill is definitely where the locals dine! If you are in the area, check them out! Its in an unlikely location but IKYK. They offer daily specials and happy hour! Got the Prime rib sando with fries, HH Caesar salad, HH Buffalo Cauliflower, HH Potato Skins and Fish and Chips! Everything came out hot and delish except the au jus that came with the prime rib was a bit too salty, way too much base but overall, the food and customer service was great! ****GrouponAlert**** First time trying The Black Horse Tavern 🐎 . First thing we noticed was that it looks closed from outside. Once you open the door it was pretty lively inside. It was about 7pm on a Friday night (not bad wait time). We checked out the menu while we waited. There were several things that sounded good. My wife and I usually share because shes a light eater but I'm not so the the portion has to be decent for this to work. We decided on the potato soup and Blackened chicken fettuccine. We ordered the bowl size soup which was large and came with a huge peice of one of the moistest cornbread ever!!. The Blackened chicken fettuccine was creamy and delicious with perfectly cooked chicken and came with garlic bread. The server was Michelle and did the best she could with how busy it was. We are already planning out next trip!! Not forgetting how frugal I am they currently had a groupon deal you could purchase to save a bunch of money!!
