The first thing I look for whenever I go to a bbq restaurant is the smoke coming from the building. This place had none. The layout of the restaurant was very nice and appeared very clean. I noticed when I walked in that there was no smell of food cooking. No indications that you were walking into a bbq place. That's always my first red flag that the food might not be so great. The baked beans were just a can if van de camps with extra brown sugar added. The sauce is another indicator of how good the food will be. It was very disappointing. First off, it was the color of Louisiana hot sauce. It was very vinegary, and had some kind of offsetting ingredient that was not very complimenting to the taste. The coleslaw was bland and the bbq chicken was seasonless and tough. Neither the bbq chicken nor the slab of ribs had an inkling of smoke flavor to it. The ribs were tender but very vinegary. I was under the impression that the ribs had been boiled and then baked in an oven because it lacked alot in flavor. I am shocked to know that this place was voted #1 in the Jemison area but I attribute that to not having alot of competition. One thumbs up though is that the people there were very nice and accommodating. This was just my experience. I don't know...I could have went on a bad day. Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Fantastic! Got a large pork sandwich and side of beans. Pork was perfectly cooked and flavorful, sauce complemented instead of overpowering and the sweet style beans were delicious. Had the large pulled pork sandwich with tater tots. It was great - pork was super tender & pretty juicy, great flavor. The BBQ sauce was amazing - I wish they had put more. Next time, I will definitely ask for extra. The tater tots were super crispy on the outside, just the way I like em! My goldendoodle puppy shared and gave 2 paws way up!
