Carolina Kitchen in Brandywine is a soul food establishment that offers decent southern-style cuisine. The atmosphere is welcoming and homely, with a Carolina ballad greeting first-timers. The dine-in section is well-kept and very clean, making it a great place for families and groups to enjoy a filling meal. Prices are on the higher side, but the portions are generous, making it worth the money. The restaurant also has two other locations in Largo and D.C. Some must-try dishes include the mac and cheese, collard greens, and candied yams. The fried chicken and whiting are also recommended, although the former can be overcooked at times. Vegetarian options such as beans and greens are available as well. For drinks, the establishment offers bottled water, fountain soda, and sweet tea. Cocktails, soft drinks, and wines are not available. The service can be hit or miss, with some employees being incredibly rude and others trying their best to keep the line moving. It's important to note that the wait time can be long, especially during rush hour, so it's best to arrive early or call ahead for pick-up. Overall, Carolina Kitchen in Brandywine is a great place to enjoy authentic soul food in a welcoming atmosphere.

Wanted soul food for Sunday dinner after church so I visited this location. We easily found street parking near the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line with about a 20-30 minute wait but the line did progress - the wait gave us time to look at the menu as first time visitors. The line is carry out only with open seating. The food is buffet style and you order and it is prepared for you to pick up at checkout. We ordered two things (catfish and creole salmon) that were made to order after about 10 minutes. The line staff were courteous as well as the staff at checkout. We had creole salmon fried catfish with two sides each including cornbread and we also got a Caesar salad. The fish was flavorful and the white rice was just rice (you can season how you want with salt pepper hot sauce etc) I really enjoyed the side items! It was easy to get seated and the dining room was clean (staff came out periodically to clean used tables and sweep) Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Macaroni&Cheese

I enjoy every meal I order from this Carolina Kitchen location and so does my husband. The fried chicken, BBQ chicken, and smothered pork chops are absolutely delicious as are the yams and collard greens. The service is good as well. I am never disappointed. As someone said, the front line employees are pleasant. Management decisions on hiring food workers is questionable. The service and food quality are not good. Attached is a photo of a few chicken fingers from a kids meal, all breading - no meat. I also ordered a salad. Because the employee did not speak English, they were not able to understand the monitor. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
First, the food is very overpriced. A platter that contains ONE piece of chicken should not be 23+ dollars. Secondly, the food isn’t that good. Like at all. Mac n cheese looks like scrambled eggs and completely mushy. The greens taste like it was cooked in the same juices as the rotisserie chicken. Tastes weird. If you want some real soul food just go to Vibes Soul Food. Their prices match the quality of their food. For 3 platters (each platter had one piece of chicken) and a side of pork chops was 100 dollars. Waste of money. Won’t ever go again. Food: 1
This was my first time coming here. The food was pretty good. One concern that I had was that if you're dining in and you want to use the men's room you may have to wait. There's only 1 toilet. For a place this size you would think that the restroom would be much larger. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Not homemade at all. Everything was from the can. The potato salad was store bought. I'm from GA/AL so I specifically asked if the sides were homemade and was told they were. That was not true. We ordered fried wings, potato salad, collard greens, mac and cheese, whiting and rice and gravy. It's very obvious that nothing was homemade. The whiting was "off" like it was old or something. The wings looked so appetizing but lacked seasonings. The canned sides were heavily salted and sweetened from trying to cover up the can taste. The customer service was amazing. Everyone was friendly and pleasant. Price per person $50–100 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
The food was very good and tasty, but we paid almost $70 for 2 meals that should have been $35 tops. And this is cafe style not a sit-down restaurant. Perhaps that's because I've gotten used to SC prices. That was nit my maij issue. My main issue was with not plainly publishing prices, and the rudeness of the 2 cashiers. I asked for the manager but they refuse to get her. I therefore, double checked the town name so that I could publish a review. I was reluctant to go there because of living in SC, now I will not exactly be running back. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
Not sure when this restaurant decided to discontinue menu dining and go full cafeteria style. Huge mistake, I like freshly prepared food not food sitting in heaters for most of the day. The fried chicken was hard and dry, potato salad super sweet, along with the sweet greens. I ended throwing the entire meal in the trash when I got home. I ordered my food for pick up one they charged me for 3 fries I only needed 2and they charged me for an extra collard greens i didn't need I thought the girl understood that .two my shrimp didn't even have the sweet tangy sauce on it the macaroni and cheese was mushy and the cheese was not melted all they way through it looked like scramble eggs the tea tasted like mold at the bottom my sons sliders the buns were hard my moms pork chops were dry the sweet potatoes taste bland they weren't even cooked all the way either the dessert was terrible nothing was homemade the cake was dry and the cobbler my mom said it tasted like the peaches and the dough was old . I won't eat here again know wonder you have 3 stars the service was terrible they need to hire adult's because the "kids" they have working there don't pay attention at all. A bit pricey but lovely employees. Chicken, yams, and greens are bomb. What warrants the three stars are the not so good fried whiting and Mac and cheese. Fish did not taste like whiting nor was seasoned and Mac and cheese reminds me of Boston Market. Def not soul food Mac and cheese. Looks like eggs (reference photo) Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
