Sunday 3/3/24, we had a volleyball tournament in town, arrived at opening time and start to finish our family enjoyed it all!
The ambiance was that of an old diner with a fresh, bright and cheery look.
Our waitress was so attentive and accommodating.
We ordered a variety of food to include, churro waffles, omelets and eggs benedict. Us parents also ordered some house special drinks. From the basics to house specials it was all fantastic!
For a family that is on the road a lot for travel ball and enjoy trying all the locally owned restaurants, Early Bird is a new favorite!

Carla and Emilia at the bar were beyond amazing ! First time visit and will 100% be back !!! The girls were amazing best service we’ve had in a very long time and they were busy… Food and drinks were also amazing… We will definitely be back !!!

I got there a little bit past 130.
So by this time we were got done. They were closing, but they weren't in much of a hurry which I liked. Because some restaurants when they close there in a hurry but the food and i'm not big fan with food but It was like going on a journey and the food was amazing like I just discovered food again. Also the waitress Was amazing friendly nice great attitude and has great ideas on what to order Also if you have to drive, they can make non-alcoholic drinks but I don't know if it good or not. I just wish there was an app too for them.

The food was really different than what I expected, ordered meat and eggs with a muffin. My meat and egg meal came covered in a thick sugar, I couldn't eat it. it tasted/looked too creative for me. I handed back the full plate of food and paid my $16. I'd categorize it as a dessert place , dessert drinks , and meals. it's not a bad place, it's just too sugary and greasy for me. Tips for eating here are to desire a big sugary meal and I'd suggest pancakes or the like. Something that's good with sugar. If you like this place for brunch, I'd suggest Portofinos for dinner, They also have a creative menu.

The Avocado's Number is delicious! The whipped herb ricotta cheese with the lite orange honey vinegarette is divine!

We went on a Sunday morning, and sat at the bar to avoid a long wait. It was very busy, but very good! We will be back. I had a beermosa and the avocado number, and would get botb again. My husband had a triple bacon bloody mary that he would skip, but he absolutely loved his chicken fried steak plate. We shared the croquettes as a starter and they were excellent. Highly recommend, but know that it will be very busy on a weekend day.

Had the churro waffle and it was fantastic. Wife had one of the omelette dishes, she was pleased too and she is more critical of her food. Bacon was very flavorful and not over or under cooked, eggs were scrambled very well and weren't heavy or soggy. Definitely going again, being able to be put on the wait-list from online is awesome too!

Scrambled Eggs
We were seated immediately but took over 10 minutes for waitress to come back to take our order. Food came out fairly quick but the biscuit for my sandwich was burnt and hard. We were able to flag down our waitress and she had it remade. The bottom of the biscuit was still pretty tough. They did comp the sandwich but I was still charged for the side (fruit) that came with the sandwich. Kind of odd, especially because she didn't leave the side for me to snack on while they remade the sandwich. So from the time we walked in the door to when I actually got to eat my food it felt like forever because now I'm starving. The food itself was fine. Over priced even for Ankeny, e.g., I believe a side waffle was $9. The table next to us had to flag down the (same) waitress because they needed boxes and to pay. The table next to them had to flag her (same waitress) down to order their food. It didn't appear they were short-staffed, and if they were there was no mention of it. She was prompt on check and payment for us, just not taking our order. Again, maybe they were short staffed. I don't know that they can use the "we are still new to this" excuse either because it's been several months and they have another location. Regardless, we won't be going back. We would rather support other locally owned restaurants.

Great food and the best service from Carla that works behind the bar. She was working at full speed and still made time to chat. If there was an award for "Best Breakfast Bartender" she would win my vote.
