The food was stunning , and for the quality remarkably affordable. The staff were accommodating to us English speakers. Only warning is the kitchen may be serving too many to let you order food, however I believe this to be a price for quality and individual attention given to each dish. I had the prawn starter and chips and both were mouth watering and incredibly filling. The photos posted don’t even give the food justice (my photo isn’t much better :,)) Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife and I chose to go to de Toog "the Bar" because it was a short walk from our hotel in Koog and de Zan. It turns out that it is a very trendy, reservation only restaurant. The back patio is right on the canal by a drawbridge. We only got a seat because we were early and agreed to give the table up when the couple who had reserved it were scheduled to be there. The hot chocolate was one of the best ones. I had the chicken club sandwich, it is too huge and heavy. The fries were very wholesome. Local food just doesn't get any better than this. The special for 2 at 49€ is a huge table filling feast for the senses and certainly too for the stomache. The steak is fantastic, the croquettes fresh non factory and the spare ribs are just great. Meat basically falling off the bone. Will most certainly be back here.
