Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum and Janeway-Parks Carriage House is a great attraction for tourists who come to eat at this bar after long walks. It's time to try tasty halibut, apple salads and mashed potatoes. Ordering good bread pudding, vanilla ice cream and crumble is what a number of clients advise. Chanterelle mushroom soup was delicious! Also loved the scallops, beautifully cooked and lovely presentation as well! OMG this is an amazing restaurant. The food is outstanding, the staff is wonderful and so pleasant. The chef/owner is a food genius. This place is a gem. This started off to be a great dinner. It was recommended. I had the short ribs. They were cooked perfect with the meat falling off the bone. They tie the meat on to the bone with 2 strings and serve it like that. When you go to eat it you have to try and take the string out. They don't supply scissors to cut it. You end up getting your hands dirty trying to get them off. I ordered ice tea. When it came I asked for a straw. They don't have straws. There was no spoon in our table setting so I had to stir my ice tea with my knife. (Getto). I ordered some bread for the table and the brought out a basket of bread, very tasty bread, and some olive oil. Normally at a nice place the bread is complementary bet here they charge extra like it was an appetizers. The olive oil was awful. It was flavored with something bitter. I asked for some balsamic vinegar and she said they don't have any. Who serves bread and olive oil without balsamic vinegar? I asked for some salt to put in the olive oil to try and mask the flavor and she brought the salt on a plate. Not in a salt shaker but on a plate. A pile of salt on a plate.. Remember they didn't give us any spoons so we had to use a fork...to scoop the salt....a fork!!! When we were finished with our meal and it was time for our desert (came with the meal) I asked for a to go box for the dessert as we were full. She said no to go boxes for the desert. She said the manager made the rule. I said go tell the manager that I am willing to pay for a to go box. She came back and said no. Really? No? We didn't get our desserts. Let me sum it up. No straws, no spoons, no balsamic vinegar, no salt shakers and no to go boxes for desert(even if i am willingto pay for it). That is really petty considering the price of the dinner. I wish I could give this place no stars! We had a reservation for 6pm we did show up a little early but we were seated. The server an older woman kept coming to the back room where we were seated but never looked our way. We sat there for 15 min but never came to take our order. Then about 5 min later an older man and young gentlemen came in and were seated in our area. Not even 3 min she came and took their order. I don’t want to throw the racist card but we were the only Mexican - Americans in there. We were completely ignored. Not even a glance our way. We got water and that is all we were served. I don’t understand why we were ignored. Everyone in that room had their order taken but us. Very humiliating and embarrassing. Do better Santa Ynez!
