Do you like sushi? If so, you’re going to LOVE poke. It’s essentially sushi in a bowl. For the uninitiated, it operates similar to Chipotle — you pick a base like rice or salad, add your choice of protein (they have around 16 to choose from), then top it off with a nice assortment of vegetables, sauces, and toppings. They also have a dozen premade combinations, if you prefer to not pick all of your own ingredients. You can expect to spend somewhere between $13 and $20 per bowl, but it is for some of the freshest and tastiest counter service food available, and even considering the prices, the portion sizes are generous. (I never leave hungry.) For a place that does umami foods better than just about anywhere else, the atmosphere is decidedly sterile. It’s not a place to get cozy and hang out. It is impeccably clean and well lit though. We have visited a couple of locations of this chain, and the staff have been without exception, very friendly and helpful and efficient. Overall, I recommend Hawaii Poké Bowl — we’ve left every visit exceptionally satisfied.
