This is a long overdue review from our visit last December. Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. Chef Benito and Adelia (hope I spelled your name right) are the best hosts. We ordered the calamari, chef special pasta, lobster tails, and an Italian croissant for dessert. We even got a delightful tiramisu for a birthday treat. Everything was delicious. You can tell Chef Benny is very passionate about his cooking. It's amazing how he makes every guest feels special with his cooking. You really feel that he is cooking just for you. He and Adelia taught us some Italian that night and Chef Benny sang for us...what a memorable experience to dine at this restaurant. Highly recommend to anyone who loves to support local business and appreciate good food cooked with love. Would love to be back. Our boss recommended this restaurant for a work related dinner. I had no idea what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised! From the moment you walk in you can tell that Benny cares deeply about the experience as much as the food, and that showed throughout the evening. He gave us excellent wine recommendations, and joked back and forth with our lively dinner guest. This was our first time meeting some of the people we were dining with so the added commentary and Benny's personality really helped break the ice. We had calamari and mixed meats and olives to start; both were lovely and the calamari was perfectly cooked. When it came time to order out mains we were having a hard time deciding on what to get as the specials sounded amazing. Benny ended up creating us a platter to share which had duck breast, lamb, bison ragu, and mixed vegetables. Everything was so flavorful and tender! I missed the name of the server but she was fantastic and you could tell she cared as much as Benny. This place is an absolute gem, I will definitely be back with my husband in the near future. Our first time at La Luna Rossa was phenomenal! A last minute late date night (long overdue) and recommendations from the YYC Food Facebook group led us to try La Luna Rossa. Reservations were available, and although it took a bit to be seated, the delay made sense as the solo server and chef were the only staff in the restaurant. The wait is worth it; excellent wine, specials not present on the regular menu (including pickerel, rigatoni short rib, and chicken breast), and service that balanced checking in and information that contributed to our dining experience was appreciated. We had the grilled octopus and fresh salad appetizer, the gnocchi with Gorgonzola, and the pasta special (rigatoni with marinated braised short rib that was fall off the bone). All dishes were unbelievable; pasta texture was perfect, and portion sizes fed both of us comfortably. Chef offered us complimentary cappuccinos or coffees, which we appreciated and thanked him profusely. The server also recommended we try the pizza place (Azzuri) next door. Family spirit, celebrations, delicious and authentic Italian food are the words that come to my mind when I think about Luna Rossa. Chef Benny is passionate and he expresses his passion in his preparations. As a family, we enjoyed every dish and moment at the restaurant. This must be one of the most memorable family dinners we had for a long time. Thank you Chef Benny and everyone at Luna Rossa. We had a very pleasant evening, the seating is very few so it is a quiet and intimate environment. You can tell the chef really loves his job as the food he cooks is beautiful and delicious. The cost is reflected in the dishes so it's reasonable for the quality. I would 100% recommend this restaurant for great authentic Italian cuisine. Delicious Italian food and great service! The pasta is cooked to perfection. My favorite was the lightly battered crispy calamari and the spicy tomato sauce was to-die-for. Thank you Benny and Alicia for a wonderful dining experience! We’ll be back!

This place is AMAZING! I highly reccomend it to anyone & everyone! We went for our anniversary, and it was perfect. Diana was very friendly when we arrived. She helped us pick the perfect wine too! Chief Benny's cooking is absolutely fantastic! The food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and full of flavour. The presentation was very detailed as well! We finished the night off with an americano, a cappuccino and some tiramisu. The dessert was sooooo good, I had to order another LOL. I would give this place 10 stars if I could and I will be back!
