We love Mateys! Great atmosphere and really fun menu. They have a drink called the bucket which is served in... a small bucket lol It's best in the summer as it is about 2 min to the beach and 4 min to the casino so a perfect midway stop between either entertainment choice! Had a terrible experience at fiddlerhead (whatever its called) and came here instead. Service was excellent! Food was amazing. It was off season but during peak times I'm quite sure this is the place to go! A few miles away from the park it was a perfect stop to an already stressful day. I am not really a fan of coconut but the coconut shrimp was fantastic! I also got a 4 piece of original batter shrimp and that was even better. The fries were hot, crispy and cooked in the right amount of time. They didn't have old oil and the taste was light and had the perfect crunch. My bf got a burger and that too was seasoned well, cooked perfectly. The margarita? Wow. You won't be disappointed coming here. My server was... Scott I believe? He's from Houston and actually from the same area as my bf! Who would have thought meeting someone from home that far from home? All in all great experience and I'm glad we ended up here! They have taken another giant leap in food quality and now creating a family-friendly and smoke free environment. I wanted to give them the credit they deserve for the improvements after being there for the soft opening. Give MATEY'S a shot for your next dinner out. I heard nothing but high praises about the scallops but was not there to try them myself. The lobster roll was fantastic. The crab cake was perfectly constructed and prepared as well. The Buffalo chicken flatbread was my favorite. The risotto and braised short rib deserves praise as well. Greek salad is not my favorite but was done well too. I would think their soft opening with their new menu went as well as one could hope for and I am sure they will have a very busy season ahead. The updates on the building looked incredible too- I hardly felt like I was even still in the Matey's of old. Sitting on the deck in the sun or in the newly renovated lower level is enjoyable when it isn't too busy. Otherwise parking can be a hassle. One of the better areas to grab a drink in town. Such a fun place! Decorated to the max for Christmas and decorated more than any place we've seen. Steve, the bartender was excellent; one of the friendliest people wave come across on our travels. We had boneless wings(the sauce was good and it was a generous portion), the fries (delicious fresh cut humongous portion), and the California flatbread (fresh, tasty, and a good size).
