2 years i've been trying fast food in Malta. Yesterday ate for the first time Novi and that is by far the best burger place you can find on the island. Smash burger and seasoned fries was so good !! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Over the past year(s), I've realised I have mixed feelings about hamburgers. See, I love flavour. And I love a delicious piece of meat. But if you combine a delicious piece of meat with barbecue sauce, bacon, and a thousand other ingredients, you don't taste every ingredient in its full right anymore, and so you actually reduce the flavour. Still I can't help myself and usually order a barbecue-sauce-esque burger in a hamburger place - as I did here (Bourbon BBQ, if I remember the name correctly, first picture). This was fine, but not very special to me, because as I just wrote, for me, this kind of hamburger is fighting itself and, mhm, it makes me feel as if it could have been more. So the next time I came in, I ordered the Smash Burger (second and third pictures). Which was much more simple - and I loved it! I could finally taste each and every ingredient, including the (quality of the) meat, it was perfect in its (relative) simplicity! Later, I ordered some tacos (these are not at all Mexican tacos, but I'm aware that our European understanding of what a taco is supposed to be comes from the USAn Texmex concept, so, caveat emptor) and some chicken wings (these, on the other hand, were good! It always strikes me as odd how few places are capable of serving good chicken wings, but NOVI is suitably decent!). Friendly staff, too, although you need to walk to the counter to inform them of your order (but they'll bring it to you when it's ready). Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
