Surprisingly delicious food despite being in a touristy area. The wait staff was very accommodating and professional. Has such an old school vibe and classy feel to the two story restaurant. The crab cakes were amazing and the mango was a nice contrast to the crab. Calamari was tender. I had the risotto with my meal and it had such a cheesy flavor. Overall both meals were delicious. They bring a dessert tray displaying your options after the entrees. Waitress even gave me a rose at the end of our meal. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Came to dine solo at Old Fisherman’s Grotto on the recommendation of a local. I ordered the Mexican style shrimp cocktail, a Long Island ice tea, & the clam bake. The shrimp cocktail was fresh & delicious. For the cocktail, they do NOT skimp on the alcohol so drink wisely lol. And the clam bake was specifically recommended to me & I'm so glad it was! It was the best chowder I’ve ever had & I’ve had chowder in both Maine & Massachusetts- north east has nothing on this one. The service was also impeccable. This place was amazing. I didn't try any other sea food in the area but this one was great. The service was good and the food was tasty. The fish tasted fresh and the desserts were fancy. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is for the price. The clam chowder bread bowl outside was really good and comparable to San Fran. Fantastic food & specialty drinks. And quite literally the best clam chowder on the wharf (or any wharf!) They even can it now and sell them in cute packages in front of the restaurant... Visiting Monterey Bay must include Old Fisherman Grotto on the Wharf to get the full seafood experience! 🦀

Beautiful restaurant, wonderful views. It was a little more upscale than we were expecting. We brought our baby and her stroller, but had to take the stroller back to the car because they don't allow them. They are okay with you bringing children in, but again, it did feel a little upscale for that, and there was no changing table or anything in the restroom. Very cozy place, loved the atmosphere. We shared a garlic clam chowder bowl, and that was delicious! The other dishes were good, but we expected a little better for the price. Other than that, great place! My wife and I had a fantastic time at Old Fishermen's Grotto for lunch. We noticed the menu is a bit pricier for dinner, but our lunch experience was totally worth it. My wife loved her Seafood Linguini Isabella, and my Seafood Paella with Chorizo was not only big but could easily feed 2-3 people—huge portions! The Clam Chowder was a game-changer. Seriously, the best we've ever tasted. No idea what they put in it, but it's magic. We started with the Grotto Seafood Sampler—grilled shrimp, fried calamari, and a standout crab cake. The crab cake was a winner. Dessert was the raspberry cheesecake, beautifully presented and not too sweet—just perfect. Old Fishermen's Grotto is a must-try for seafood lovers. The service was great, portions were big and the flavors are phenomenal. I am from out of town - visiting from AZ. Had an absolutely amazing experience here. We were only intending on grabbing a pier side bread bowl but decided to head on inside and check out the full menu. SO GLAD WE DID. The bread bowl was as fantastic as ever but what blew us away was the seafood risotto & our amazing tuxedo cake slice. The photos do not lie. Everything tasted as amazing as it looks. Absolutely 10/10 would dine in again. Christian was an attentive and courteous waiter and we were glad that he was taking good care of us. Cannot wait to visit again. Came in for dinner with my husband. Loved the atmosphere, it felt like we were in a boat. We tasted different kinds of clam chowder from Boston, Seattle, and this one was outstanding! The service was good and the food was great, you can tell the owners take a good care of the place and their customers. Don’t see this kind of places often! My husband and I love this place! The clam chowder is the best, if you ask my husband! 🙂 (and he's not usually a chowder guy) The crabcakes are awesome, alongvwith the steamed clams. The service is attentive and friendly. Tye atmosphere by the water can't be beat! It's a great romantic dinner place for sure! The food was amazing. The clam chowder was so good. The crab cakes are spectacular You would have no idea how wonderful this place is from the sign outside. It is elegant in the evening.
