"If this sushi restaurant was in San Francisco, it would be in the top three..." is what you hear from our locals. Mike, the owner, comes to us from the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay. Has his own fishing boat to ensure absolute freshness and quality. The food is 5 stars. Let's talk about the service: also 5 stars and if Jen is on duty, 6 stars. I recently stopped in Brookings on a road trip up the Oregon coast and discovered this sweet little spot. I was blown away with the quality of the food, the staff, and how much they care about the restaurant. Try the local IPA. UPDATE: 2/26/24 Each rolll was so unique like a piece of temporary art 🎨. This place is doing great sushi at a nice price. Although the miso soup was a bit weak the spicy Jalapeños rolls were delicious. Yum!!! We had the absolute best service tonight! Kelly (Kellie? Kelli?) was fantastic! Our food was delicious, service was INCREDIBLE. Kelly was the best waitress my husband and I have EVER had-anywhere!. She was kind, friendly, speedy, helpful, didn't waste time on excess chatter-yet didn't ignore us. Been here a few times and the sushi is great! Super fresh and just delicious. Unfortunately the service isn’t consistent. First time we came we had a great server, never had to ask for more water etc. second time we had horrible service. Empty water glass before our food even came, asked for water when the food came and I guess got forgotten about. Didn’t seem busy. I ended up having to ask the front if they could find our server so we could get more water and napkins. Third time we went food was yet again amazing, but staff seemed off. Seemed like there was some drama going on and the attitude rubbed off on their ability to be polite and not seem bothered. Even if a place had great food, it’s hard to come back for another chance when the service is bad and staff is obviously annoyed. Makes the whole experience of eating out and being relaxed and enjoying your time suck. The best sushi I've found in all of southern oregon. All of the roles are very creative and absolutely delicious. Ironically, they also have the best rib eye steak in Brookings in my opinion. Make sure to leave a little bit of room for the wasabi cheesecake, you won't want to miss that.
