The new top place on our list, great atmosphere, service was over the top great. The full bar with hand crafted drinks included top shelf list of liquors. My wife and I have known each other since 1969 so we have celebrated many special occasions. Her birthday at the Side Door Cafe was one of the most memorable! The building was warm and inviting as we drove up and her name written on the sidewalk provided an extra touch of class. Dakota was our server and he was a true professional. He took our drink orders after greeting us and providing our menus. My wife had a Margarita; she said it was very tasty and I ordered coffee since I was the driver for the evening. The coffee was served in a large mug instead of a small cup you get elsewhere. The coffee was freshly made, strong and flavorful--- just right for a cold Winter Night on the Coast. I ordered the Seafood Bouillabaisse and my wife had the Seafood Fettuccine. Our meals were brought to our table within six minutes, hot from the kitchen. The presentation was exceptional only to be surpassed by the flavor! Being from the Coast, we know fresh seafood and this was indeed FRESH! Dakota checked on us several times during our meal to make sure everything was fine. I commented to him that I didn't know whether it was a reflection on me or the restaurant but my wife said her meal was better than sex! Unlike other restaurants, the servers didn't seem glued to their tables; twice our plates were picked up by other waitresses who noticed our table needed cleaning. One waitress brought us a small chalkboard with the dessert menu on it which we thought was a nice touch rather than having the waitress have to list all the items we could choose from then make a snap decision. After several minutes Dakota returned to take our dessert order and refill our coffees. We shared a slice of Key Lime Pie..... the sliced strawberries on the side was a pleasant surprise. The whipped cream was freshly made by hand and not a squirt out of an aerosol can. What a treat! I was impressed with the online reservation system and the messages from the restaurant regarding what special event this was and them wanted to know my wife's name so they could write it on the sidewalk before we arrived. One note: we wished our meals came with a slice or two of bread; the sauces were just too good to leave behind. We ordered a half a baguette with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and Dakota delivered it less than two minutes after we asked. All in all this was a very pleasant and memorable dining experience and we are looking over our calendar and planning our next trip to the Side Door Cafe. Dinner out with my wife. Lovely place , friendly staff. Excellent food and cocktails. Wilted spinach salad with a vinaigrette dressing was very good. My wife had the Halibut with a Corn and Tomato Risotto. She enjoyed it ( though the halibut could have been cooked a couple of minutes less , slightly dry ) though excellent flavors. I had the Seafood Bouillabaisse , which was very tasty. ( again , the Halibut was a little dry and the prawns were a little tough and chewy ) but still very good. The only change I would like to see in this dish was it came with Parmesan Risotto. They had the bouillabaisse served on top of the Risotto , which just made it into rice soup. I was expecting it to be served on the side , which would have preserved the creaminess and texture of the Risotto. Other than those issues , the rest was very good. Good cocktails and the chocolate cream pie I took with me for later was an awesome midnight snack ! I will definitely return when I’m visiting the coast again. Phenomenal dining experience with locally sourced ingredients and organic produce. Our server Mercedes provided stellar service. The music and atmosphere was perfect - beautiful art and happy plants everywhere. I had the Northwest Seafood Bouillabaisse, it was divine although the scallops were overdone. 10/10 and we cannot wait to return! Food was amazing but our server spent let very little time talking to us or assisting us. She took our orders walked away, forgot to bring the drinks brought them with no comment. I asked her if she was having a bad day she told me she was very busy. We spent over $100 for two people I expected the service to be better. This was a fun find in a totally unassuming location that you would “blink and miss” while driving between Depoe Bay and Lincoln City. Inside was very trendy, quiet, and comfortable. They had a welcome message for all of the special event reservations in sidewalk chalk out front, with each set of names and the occasion, which was a simple but cool touch that put a smile on our faces upon entering the property. Food was delicious, cocktails were great, and dessert was too much (as it should be!) I definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in the area and looking for a unique dinner choice. I have lived in the Willamette Valley for many years and made trips to the Oregon coast often. How did I miss the fabulous restaurant?? The food was truly amazing - everything from the artichoke shrimp dip appetizer to the coconut cream pie! Ben, our server, was the best too! A GREAT PLACE with a wonderful atmosphere & superior service! It will be difficult to top this experience :-) Thanks Ben! Wow, this place is worth the trip to the coast. We stayed at Salishan, which is about a 3 minute drive. The fish tastes really fresh as well as the fruit and veggies in the meal. The cocktail list was also great, a lot of variety. The staff was really helpful and kind and the restaurant had a really great vibe.
