Brunch in Galveston Tx! Tried out Sugar + Rye and I had high expectations coming in. There are a couple of brunch items on the menu. I got the blueberry Ricotta pancakes and the brisket hash and both were delicious! Also had honey lavender latte which was good as well! I will say though that on a Sunday morning it was very busy and we had to wait a bit. And our server kept forgetting our drinks and food so that was a huge let down. But overall would come again to give it another shot and try other menu options.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere. They are dog friendly on the patio. Even brought out a water bowl. The crab cakes and fried green tomatoes were great. The waiter was very attentive. The oysters were very fresh.
Update: It is a shame that the owner has chosen to respond with defensiveness. However he or she may like to average the visits to the table in 51 minutes, we were nevertheless not visited by a waiter while eating our dinner to see if our meal was okay, nor were we offered more water or another cocktail while eating dinner. It was when we finished our meal that we were approached. And that is too late in my book. To be the only table in the restaurant and to not get good service is inexcusable in my opinion. As a matter of fact, after we left the restaurant, we had a meeting with a local. He asked where we ate and asked if we enjoyed dinner. I said no and he said "Was it the service?" leading me to believe that this may be a problem that other diners have had.
Not impressed. We were the only table when we arrived on a Monday night. We were told that the prime rib (Monday night special) was not ready yet. So much for that. Waiter did not come back to check on whether we wanted another drink (we did want another drink) or whether we liked our meal during the course of eating our entree. He did not come back to refill water, etc. Hubby had to get another staff person's attention to ask for another drink since our waiter was not in the dining room area. The crab cake was good, the veggies tasted like they were hurriedly sprinkled with a cheap spice. Pimento cheese did not taste like pimento cheese. Poor service, will not be back.

What a gem! We had a great experience here, the inside is cozy and bright. Lots of great decorating details in the restaurant right down to the glassware. The service was so welcoming and fun, Micah took great care of us, treated us like a pal. Haven’t even gotten to the food and drink though, it’s amazing! Southern fare but heightened, we had fried green tomatoes, crab cake, and a burger, all perfect. We couldn’t choose on dessert since it all seemed great and ended up with two wonderful desserts. The drinks were also really tasty. You can’t go wrong here, it was truly a great time! Thank you 😊

S&r burger was so flavorful, especially with the pretzel bun and pimento cheese on it! 😍 Avocado toast was tasty, the tabasco added the perfect touch of sour and spice. 🥵
There were many other tempting options on their elevated brunch menu as well, nothing basic about the quality of the dishes here. 🤩 I do want to come back to try and then and must save room for their desserts! 🤤

This place is amazing. The filet is amazing! Same with the truffle fries! The environment is perfect, extremely classy! The best part is the prices. Everything is priced right and won't break the bank. Lastly is the service. Our waitress Liz was very professional and interactive with us. Our night was perfect!!!

A house that's converted into a restaurant located at corner of a busy intersection.
Friendly staff and excellent service.
Food was delicious so as the drinks.
Would recommend to book online for a table.
They have live piano music between 5 to 7 pm.
I would recommend the owner(s) to extend the piano session longer to may be two sets.

Really solid place for lunch. Great location, close to the Strand. The atmosphere is really pretty, our server was very nice & our food was good. We ordered the flat bread pizza with fig & blue cheese, it was very good. We also ordered their Caesar salad, the salad & croutons were crisp and fresh, but I did not care for their version of a Caesar dressing. They make it from chickpeas. It tasted more like hummus. We also ordered their carrot cake. The cake was moist & yummy, but the frosting is way too sweet.

Awesome atmosphere from the moment you enter a baby grand piano is to your right and the curious moose overlooks the hostess. The bar stretches and sunlight cast across the entire restaurant. The staff is friendly and leadership is attentive and engage with their customers. The food is awesome and made fresh with an old fashioned flair. The french fries taste like they're cut in house or grandma's house. Pancakes taste homemade and like it's toasted on cast iron. Perfect place for brunch and a drink to start a Saturday.
