Absolutely delicious traditional Maltese food, i think this a must visit if you want to trial the authentic taste of Malta. Staff were friendly and prices were reasonable. Would definitely recommend the Maltese pasta, it was stunning! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Absolutely delicious traditional Maltese food. Both my main dishes were >fantastic<, exactly what I wanted. The Maltese dessert platter could easily have been a tourist trap, but each dessert was of a high quality (I've had them before from 'local places', so to say). I would definitely recommend this place if you want to try traditional Maltese food (though, I haven't been to its direct competitors - instead I came back here, which is an argument in itself I suppose). It's a bit on the pricier side, but it's not too expensive, and I also didn't get the feeling this is to rip off tourists, so, fair! I managed to be here a few times, each time without a reservation - but it's a risk, and be prepared to sit outside in a thin street. The last time I was here, the waiter asked for a tip, which I found to be rude, so minus one star of the service rating for that. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Probably the best place if you want to try traditional Maltese food in a not so touristy way. We tried the rabbit (which was soaked in red wine) and the octopus stew. Both of them were very delicious. The only setback is that they don't give garnish next to the octopus and they don't inform you. In my opinion the stew was heavy, and it should have needed some garnish. Anyway the setting is very nice and staff are friendly, they also give you free starter ( Maltese bread and bean paste). Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Ta Kris - one of the most popular Malta's traditional cuisine restaurants. This place was highly recommended by several locals, thus I made a reservation in advance, knowing that it tends to be fully booked. From the moment I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and vibrant atmosphere. Despite that the restaurant was busy, the staff was attentive to the smallest details, incredibly friendly, and provided a smooth service in a very professional manner! I was served by an amazing and highly professional waiter Rinkoo. For my meal, I chose the local white wine “La Valette”, Maltese Fried “Gbejna” (coated sheep cheese with bread crumbs and nuts) as a starter, followed by Rice with Octopus En Blanc (similar to risotto), and Helu Malti for the dessert (a selection of 5 different sweets: traditional sweet Imqaret filled with dates, nutty fudge, Maltese ice-cream, cannolo stuffed with ricotta, and an almond cookie). While “Ta Kris” offers mostly traditional meat dishes, they also have a variety of vegetarian and pescatarian options for diverse dietary preferences. After placing my order, I was immediately served wine along with complimentary appetisers, enhancing my dining experience and making the waiting time more enjoyable. Each dish exceeded my expectations, with perfectly paired ingredients ensuring a delightful culinary experience. The standout for me was the fried sheep cheese starter, which had a perfectly soft texture complemented by a sweet and sour sauce. Additionally, the octopus (Rice with Octopus En Blanc) was perfectly cooked - the meat was soft and flavorful, greatly paired with the rice and seasonal vegetables. The dessert came accompanied by a detailed explanation of each sweet on the platter, all of which were equally delicious. Overall, I am more than happy with my choice to dine at Ta Kris restaurant! It's undoubtedly the best local cuisine restaurant in Malta and my number one choice for traditional dishes and an authentic experience. My sincere thanks to the exceptional staff and chefs for an unforgettable evening, and I look forward to returning soon! Really nice restaurant. We ordered for the starter octopus and Maltese plate and as a main rabbit. Everything was very delicious. I had a lovely traditional Maltese meal here. The complimentary bread and dip was scrumptious, and the rabbit main dish was wholesome and delicious. I had the traditional dessert platter, consisting of five different bite-sized treats. Service was excellent. The place was cosy and welcoming. Fantastic traditional restaurant. Homely atmosphere - the decor, guests' conversations at the tables, the atmosphere - you want to be there. Food - delicious. Dinner at Ta' Kris was awesome. The vibe was cozy, and the staff made us feel right at home. Now, let's talk about the grub – we went for the rabbit sauce spaghetti and snails in tomato and wine sauce, and it was a flavor party! The rabbit sauce spaghetti were delicious and different. Imagine perfectly cooked pasta smothered in this rich, savory rabbit goodness. And those snails? Don't be scared – they're swimming in this tomato and wine sauce that's so good, you'll wanna lick the plate, great appetizer. Ravioli were tasty but nothing special. The whole place screams Maltese charm. The restaurant was recommended to us by a few locals and we did right by going there. Ta' Kris is the spot to soak up the real taste of Malta. I had a bittersweet feeling about this restaurant. It was often referred to as a great restaurant serving good Maltese food, and in fact I confirmed that, everything was great and I felt like a local eating. However, the employees/owner were unfriendly, and as I hadn't booked, they almost ignored me, it was difficult to have dinner the day I went. I tried to come back another day, and they wouldn't listen to me because I didn't have a reservation. I strongly advise you to make a reservation, expect good food, but no friendliness.
