A lot of rave reviews about this place, not sure I'm a huge fan. We went on a Sunday for lunch it was packed! That's a good sign. We ordered catfish. One whole and one order of tails. Both were less than impressive. The tails had virtually no fish, and what I was able to pick out from the breading was mushy. The fried whole fish was thin and not as breaded as the tails it was still somewhat mushy. The pickled onion, wasn't really "pickled", the greens were too salty and mushy. The cornbread, however was fantastic. If you are looking for wine, don't get your hopes up unless you like Sutter home White Zinfandel (they call it blush) or Chardonnay. Oh, and no wine or beer on Sunday. The view is nice if you are close to a window. The interior really needs a redo, and the chairs were ripped and torn. Whenever we go to visit our friends in Alabama, this is the one place that is at the top of the list for where we have to go to eat. If you want some of the best Catfish, this is it. They start you off with good cornbread and some of the best slaw along with some pickled onion. Man, is it good! But then a generous portion of catfish filets and fries will round out the meal. Great service and wonderful atmosphere, but expect a little wait time if you don't get there early. Well worth it, though! I love the cornbread, coleslaw, and picked onions they bring to the table. You have to get the Pot of Greens as well. It's the only place in the world that has greens that I actually like. Our server, her name escapes me, I think it was Jessica who was the best. So good that we called the manager to our table to express that our service was top-notch. The food was delicious. We had seafood platters. The homemade tartar sauce, the cornbread, coleslaw, and pickled onions was a great combination that I didn't know I needed in my life. Can't wait to visit again. Great food, awesome service, and great vibe. The greens, pickled onions, coleslaw, cornbread, and whole catfish plate were phenomenal. My only concern that I had was that the seafood sampler was not worth the price paid vs. the selection/quantity on the platter IMO.
