This is an excellent Japanese restaurant. We had dinner which was excellent. The service was fast and polite. It was very clean inside and the presentation of the food was great along with the flavor. We will definitely go back if in Utah. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Absolutely hands down the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. It took approximately 45 minutes to be seated, they did not have enough seats to hold everybody waiting in the lobby. The menu was unclear and I ordered a combo platter of sashimi which I assumed would come as rice rolls, it was just 8 pieces of sliced fish with spinach leaves, the waiter was friendly but the manager (I assume) was frantically pacing around the building with a concerned look on his face moving from table to table. The waitress told me I could grab a drink from the fridge and they would add it to my check, I did this and the same flustered (manager?) rushed over to me and without saying a word gave me very disgruntled, almost angry glances for about 1 minute and acted like I was stealing or something. It was one of the most genuinely terrible, weird, and confusing experiences I have ever had. Oh and, it was $26 for the drink, 8 small filets of fish, and a tiny bowl of rice. Very Cheap serve large. This place is great and the service is great I have been here multiple times and I lost count of it. My husband likes the Nabeyaki Udon They never fails us YAMATO JAPANESE RESTAURANT IS THE BEST. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Overall delicious food and good service! If you’re looking for Japanese food and some pretty good sushi, this is a great option! I ordered the sushi and gyoza combo, it was a great price (13.49$) for that as well as a small salad, miso soup, and a bowl of rice as well included. My family ordered the beef bulgogi and two yakisoba dishes (not pictured). Portions were really good for the price. The yakisoba flavors could have been more prominent in the yakisoba. The gyoza and sushi combo is served with the Cali roll, but I upgraded to the Yamato roll which was amazing and delicious. The tuna and salmon on my sushi were not as fresh as you might get elsewhere, but overall I enjoyed it and would eat their sushi again. The gyoza was delicious and moist, but nothing that especially stood out flavor wise. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is quite nice and relaxing, nice, dim lighting which makes it a calm environment. They have regular tables as well as traditional Japanese kneeling tables. We unfortunately did not get to sit there because they were all full. Our server was wonderful! 3 parking spaces available right in front of the restaurant and further parking in the back. We love Yamato! Our daughter got the kids chicken teriyaki. It was so much food! The curry rice was delightful. We got a couple of sushi rolls too. Everything was so tasty and good! Me and my family love this place! The sushi is so good and high quality and their salmon is so good too. I think everything we’ve ordered from here we love. The quality and price are well worth this gem of a place and I recommend anyone considering a Japanese restaurant to eat here. Yamato might look small or underwhelming from the outside but you go inside and you're impressed with how great the decor and atmosphere is, as well as the size inside. I love their menu, it's just the same like five or ten dishes you always see at these places. I legit had a hard time deciding what I wanted because the options were all so good! Bottom line, food is delicious, I just had a hard time getting a waiter over whenever we needed something but when they did come they were very polite! Incredible! The fish tasted great for being in Utah. The staff was actually Japanese and all very friendly; the atmosphere was amazing. I will definitely be coming back. The takoyaki tasted like it was made fresh instead of frozen! The BBQ roll had a delicious smoky flavor. I’ve never had anything like it!! My hats off to the chefs at this restaurant.
