Very good food. We were 2 days in a row. Delicious schnitzel with mushrooms, oysters and steak. And the fries with garlic are heaven in the mouth! Highly recommended! The only thing to improve: internet access for 15 minutes, the next day the access was already used.

Aldstadt is a German restaurant in Swakopmund that has a wide variety dishes available, of which most are German style cuisine, however they also have some other options available including some nice seafood dishes. I was truly impressed by the range of dishes, and we really enjoyed everything we tasted. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating options, including an outdoor beer garden as well as a cozy bar. To round off our experience, our waitress was friendly and helpful, ensuring that we always had everything we needed. During our visit, the restaurant quickly became very busy, demonstrating its popularity with both locals and tourists. I highly recommend making a reservation to ensure you have a spot to enjoy all that Altstadt has to offer. If you're in Swakopmund and craving authentic German cuisine, Aldstadt is the place to go; you won't be disappointed.

We vegetarians were able to have a pretty hearty meal at Altstadt that filled us up and was tasty. We ordered garlic mushrooms (which were cheesier than expected, but still good), garlic fries, stir-fried vegetables, Greek salad (you may want to ask for the dressing on the side), and a cheese platter (which comes with boiled eggs and olives). And for dessert, delicious waffles with hot cherries. The outside seating is plentiful and the staff very friendly.

This place was recommended by our host during our brief visit to Swakopmund. This was probably one of the best schnitzels I've ever had. But maybe that's not saying much because I don't often eat meat, so I can't say I'm a great person to rate schnitzels... but it was still really good, haha! We also enjoyed asparagus with mashed potatoes. Everything was incredible tasty - the schnitzel, asparagus, spätzle, mashed potatoes, and beer! The service was also very attentive.
I will say though, it did feel very strange walking into this restaurant and being greeted in German, and then it being filled with white people. Although we knew Namibia was colonised by the Germans (and others), I suppose we were still quite thrown off by how segregated everything was. But that's a conversation for another time.

We had dinner 2 times. This restaurant is the place you feel in Germany. I strongly recommend this place for dinner. One of best Calamari place in the world.

Always a spoil! Norbit is on top of his game, bringing an authentic German atmosphere combined with delicious food! Very cool German beer garden located right in the heart of Swakop. Great atmosphere, food and beers. Indoor and outdoor seating with fire available pending weather.
Locals will drink you through some of the local shots. Gotta go for the locals beer (HANSA) in the 1 liter boot! Feels like being in Germany (if you’re looking for that in the middle of Africa ha!).

My husband and I enjoyed lunch here on the 19th of February 2024. We sat outside. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent I honestly couldn't finish my burger. My husband enjoyed a Kessler chop.
