We have been twice. The first and second time the for food to come out was close to an hour. The first time we ate here the wings were just amazing. We had family and friends in town a few weeks later and wanted to impress them. But the second time we went the food was all barely edible. Everything came out cold. The wings were so dry and overcooked. Someone’s med/rare burger was so dry and overcooked they gagged trying to eat it. We were just so starving we ate what we could with lots of water. Such a shame. We had thought we found our new go to place. There is a really nice atmosphere inside and a fun location! I think they would have remade our food but after waiting an hour we just weren’t interested in waiting any longer. FINALLY! Some decent brisket in North Carolina. Dont let the fatty top layer fool you, there are amazing lean cuts of meat under there. Thick cut, tender and moist. The bark had a nice flavor that permeated throughout the meat. No need for sauce at all, but the 2 bbq sauces they have actually paired really well with the brisket. Their bbq beans were REALLY good, and hearty. Nice chunks of meat in there with a great smokey flavor. They have the crispy fries, which is nice if you're not going to have fresh cut. Their root beer was pretty good too! I will definitely make the drive for this bbq, considering I've tried all of the other top rated bbq places in a 30 mile radius that don't even come close to being good. Absolutely delicious!! Service was excellent, as was the food and portions. We had a party of 4 and got the turkey melt, brisket plate, BBQ pork nachos and boneless wings. Wings were so-so, but everything else was fantastic! We came on a Friday around 12:30 and they were sadly out of meatloaf and hushpuppies. I corresponded with the owner via email about a month ago for a reservation for 25 people for my birthday for Saturday 12/9. We went back and forth about accommodations at the Smokehouse and putting our orders in batches so as not to back up the kitchen. I completely understood that request. However, he must not have informed his staff in that Months time. We walked in and they asked “how many?” And the look on these poor girls faces when I said “25” told me immediately that their boss communicated nothing of the sort. They were frazzled and irritated and it showed. (Understandably so) some of my friends had to move tables and chair around and go to the bar to get us drinks while staff scurried around frantically. I felt really bad for the servers but I was really disappointed that a business owner lacked important communication skills. All things considered it ended up still being a nice time and the servers made it work. The food was delicious as always, but I will not be planning any future events with this establishment in the future. I was warned by friends ahead of time but gave the benefit of the doubt. Lesson learned. Great spot for a small group for a basic meal and a couple of drinks. But that’s it. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2
