Very nice place to have a small gathering for family or friends. Great ambience and atmosphere. Unfortunately the water will only come in after 8 pm so all you see is a sea of mud if earlier. The sky was beautiful though. Food was pricey but that’s expected for such a place. The satay sauce certainly needed improvement. It was not spicey enough and too little peanut inside, if any. Looked and tasted more like Indonesian sate to me. Still, we enjoyed the outing and would recommend a visit at least once. Very nice waitress, I must say. Helpful and humorous

Food price on the high side for Melaka standard. Portion is good though. Dining furnitures need some refurbishment. Nasi Lemak is good. Huge sotong even though ordered small portion. Nachos quite let down…

A good friend of mine, Benny who lives in Melaka, proposed to bring me out while I was in town. After my dinner at Peranakan Mansion, he came to pick me up from my place of stay.
Instead of going into town, he took me through the coastal road heading towards Tanjung Kling where Bert's Garden is located. He told me that this restaurant was a retreat and getaway place for him, and that he knew the boss personally.
It was quite dark at that time so I could not have a better look at the whole area. Since I had dinner earlier, I told him not to order too much - just enough to munch and enjoy our wines.
◾stir fried anchovies with onion & cili padi - lovely snack minus the carbs.
◾otak-otak - I just could not get enough of this dish provided it was tasty.
◾Geragau - a seasonal and limited item essentially krill fritters which was my first time eating this. The chilly sauce was perfect with this deep fried snack.
◾Since this restaurant was Benny's canteen, we had 2 bottles of wine that night - one that I brought all the way from KL, and another he opened on the spot.
This place is also a watering hole for regulars while enjoying the food. Nice place to chill with friends and families instead of fighting for seats at popular spots in town.

Bert's Garden has been a delightful spot in Malacca for over two decades. This place keeps its quaint appeal, offering a warm and homey feel. The menu is tasty with plenty of choices for everyone. Plus, their bar lets you watch amazing sunsets that really make your evening special. They've got a beer for every palate too. The folks working here are super kind, which makes you feel right at home. All in all, it's a perfect place to relax with some great eats and sips. Oh and not to forget, they have live music on Friday!

We went ard 5pm and had a sunset viewing till dark. Nice place to chill for the evening. Both outdoor and indoor seating available. They have different buskers every night, who accept song dedication. And their music is not too loud to hinder conversation at the table. The few dishes we had are good and a large variety of beverages from juices to beer, wine and hard liquor to choose from. Would definitely go again

The food served at Bert's is hit and miss but given the excellent service, ambience (by the sea, open-air seating, nice bar), it is a comfortable place to go with family members and friends for alcohol and food in a totally chilled out location. As for the food, the fish and chips was good, as was the chips (we ordered more!). The cencaluk omelette and shrimp cake were decent. Satay could be improved on - the breast meat used meant the satay sticks were rather tough and dry. The satay sauce had a nice spicy zip to it. Beers were nice and cold; empty mugs were chilled which mean they know their business. Service was excellent - friendly head waiter made sure everything was fine.
The service was excellent. Mr Ron, the head waiter was superb in ensuring all is fine. The view is amazing and ambience is great. Food was good too. Will surely return again.

The stingray was abit too large for the two of us sharing

The tables had to have some incense to drive away flies but is not effective when the food arrives.
