One of the coolest places in town. If it's not reserved for a private event, go around the side, find the secret entrance, and enjoy the speakeasy.
And if you're looking for a cool event space, any room in Black Rabbit would be amazing, but The Burrow is my favorite.
Great food. Great drinks. Great staff. Great atmosphere. And great portions! Where the menu says large plates, they mean it literally! So so good.

Our large party (23ish) reserved private room. We were provided a center room where several patrons outside of our party walked through to get from the front to the back, or back to front room room. Only mention this for large parties in future in case expectation is one of privacy. Based on the private party room location (a walk through for this restaurant) you probably won't get it.
We had three large sitting areas after as many of the tables we could push together without creating a fire hazard. The high back chairs were awesome! Super comfortable!
While our servers were top notch, there were only two of them. This made everything slow and created situations where some people had drinks, appetizers, salads, entrées etc and others waited.. and waited... For our size party a minimum of three servers, preferably four may have prevented this. Two =too few.
It was several hours before our dinner orders were even taken. It made for a longer than expected night. (Thankfully everyone in our party enjoys each other's company!) lol
Most everyone enjoyed the food and the speak easy charm.
I ordered the trout which I was not a fan of. Skin on, was not crisp. Very fishy, and I tasted earth.. wondering if beets was an ingredient? I would not recommend the trout.
I had a great salad prior though with blue cheese and apples. While many appetizers were ordered and enjoyed I didn't sample any.
I tried three of the desserts though and if you like a rich sweet chocolate, go for the one with marshmallows.
As a Pescetarian, I personally would not return as there was only trout or redfish option and no good solid vegetarian option barring the fish selection.
That said, if you're a carnivore, I heard there are several great selections to choose from.

We don't mind paying high prices for quality food. But Black Rabbit is simply not that, unfortunately. Everything was so salty, completely overwhelming what might have been a delicious dish. They also made changes where you can only order drinks specific to the room your in? We chose the dining area as this was a Valentine's date. They refused to serve me a "ghost" because that's only available in the room 10 feet to my right? I get the themed rooms but maybe not treat them like I ordered something from a completely different place.
Calamari - As stated above WAY too salty
French dip sliders - Not only salty but the buns weren't toasted so it got super soggy.
Short ribs - First maybe mention they're pulled pork style not rib style. Second it's a totally rookie move to have standing pasta water at the bottom of the plate. Lastly, and I mean this from the bottom of my now clotted heart. Take the damn salt away from the chef.
Fried chicken - I found the only thing on the menu without salt! It was the mashed potatoes which came off bland.
Lastly dessert
Chess cake - Dear Odin do not eat those blackberries. 🤢

There was nothing “speakeasy” about our experience in the dining room; We sat in the dining room, the lights were bright, no hidden entrance. The back bar area was red, dark and looked more of the speakeasy vibe. The service was slow but fine/server was polite and apologetic for the speed. The food was pretty good. The cheese board was great as were the cocktails! I think I was underwhelmed because of the expectations I had. I thought it would be a fun experience and yes, the rabbit decor was whimsical, but there was no hidden entrance to anywhere that we saw. Some guests were dressed in 20s attire which made of fun. I’m glad we tried it.

What an absolute gem! Best bourbon selection for a great price. The food was on point. Chef Justin does an amazing job, and Sherman and his team know how to take care of their guests. Reserve early, and enjoy a cocktail or two in the speakeasy. 10/10 will be back.

We were looking for a local treasure and we found it here!
The food was absolutely outstanding, very cozy and engaging environment, live the secret door, and the service was the best!
We will absolutely bookmark this place and come back next time we are in town.

I had a wonderful date night at The Black Rabbit! It was a fun dining experience, really great ambience throughout and excellent service as well as food. I am really big on the quality of service and all workers were excellent and attentive and always available and checking in. A huge shoutout to the bartender who made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. He really knew how to make some amazing drinks! If you’re looking for a cool atmosphere, fun speakeasy bar, good drinks and food definitely check this place out!

I came recently to celebrate my dads birthday. We made a reservation over the phone on the lounge side. The decor was really nice, we were greeted with smiles. The food was amazing and drinks were tasty. The main issue I had was the time limit I was given. When we called to book our table we were not made aware of any time limits. We were told when we sat down at 7pm that there was a 9pm reservation on our table and we would be expected to leave at 9. This kind of threw the vibe off with my group because I had bragged about this place from my previous experience on a date. I didn’t even order dessert because by the time we received our meals and finished them it was already 820. The service was already somewhat slow so I figured if we got dessert we would be asked to leave before we could finish. I didn’t want to have to hear that in front of the Birthday person so we left. The food was great, the place is a beautiful lounge, but the time limit was not expected. We definitely would have booked somewhere else if we were told ahead of time.

Our server was ok but there was another there named Tia who was extraordinary!! We weren’t even our server but she went above and beyond for us. She was attentive to her tables and very kind and professional. The short rib pasta was good and the whipped potatoes. The jerk calamari was really good as well. The apple cobbler was not good at all. It tasted like potpourri, not even a hint of apple.

This was our second time here & the food was absolutely phenomenal again. The chef is out of bounds & the menu is so creative. Thida was our server and she was so great and had the best recommendations. We will obviously be back! It’s our favorite spot in Louisville.
