Got a booth after a 10 min wait on a Saturday lunch which I thought was lucky cuz the place got more crowded once we got seated. Ordered fish&chips, fried calamari, pancakes, and seafood pasta. Everything was good, especially the pasta. It had so much of the seafood and every little piece was well sauced with the marinara. Loved the view too!

Second time here and it was not a fluke! The food was absolutely delectable. So many layers of flavor that did not overpower the dishes. The pace of the food was relaxing. Our waitress was delightful and made the experience for us. The obvious plus was the views for days. Overall we will seek out this restaurant whenever we are in town. TRY THIS PLACE!!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!!! I really can’t believe that my sister and I stumbled upon this place (Thanks Google!) We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon around 3PM and when I tell you I was thoroughly surprised at how great everything was!!! Usually beachfront restaurants like this are packed and you need to wait quite sometime to get seated. Although the restaurant was pretty packed and I wanted the more “exclusive” seating with a direct view a few feet from the ocean I was seated in LITERALLY 2 minutes. All the staff was super friendly and everything had an amazing atmosphere. The best part I didn’t have to break my pocket even though I am pretty simple when it comes to what I eat. The quality and taste of the food was amazing as well. I wish I lived in the area because I would definitely make myself a regular. I will note that being that it is really close to the beach there are a bunch of people on the beach, playing, surfing etc so if you like a more secluded area i would sit in the patio section or inside (where you still get amazing views). All in all 11/10 experience. I would literally come to santa barbara JUST to come back to boathouse and introduce my family and friends to an awesome place with a great view and great vibes AND great prices. So I'm not from the area. A friend of mine said this was his favorite place in Ventura so that's where we ended up. I gotta start with the view. This restaurant is ON the beach. A few big waves and The Boathouse would literally be a boathouse. I started with the lobster bisque. I had not had lobster bisque since The Hamburger Hamlet closed down (for all you Pasadena folks). It was as good as my childhood memories of the hamlet. I then had the fish and chips. Best ever. The fish batter was spiced much better than anything you would get in England (yeah, not saying much there). The fries and coleslaw were also super good. I dont know what by buddy had, but it was some sort of seafood soup. His body language was clear. He really enjoyed it and would not give his plate up to the wait staff despite their best efforts. My wife had the filet minon. She said it was a little tough but she blamed herself for ordering it medium (this might be a deal breaker for our marriage). We washed it down with the mud pie. Once again, top notch. The dinning area was clean as were the restrooms. There were only two restrooms (both marked M/F) which didn't quite seam to be enough for a restaurant this size. The staff was awesome. Very attentive and friendly. I will be sure to hit this place whenever I'm in town. Parking is tough so be patient. It’s a very nice, fancy restaurant right on the beach. But I don’t think the food is as good as they think it is. I’ve been there a few times and had a variety of fish and steak. It’s all prepared very elegantly but the flavors aren’t what they should be. The halibut is beautifully served and covered in a sauce but I didn’t think the sauce enhanced the flavor of the fish. Same for the steak. Just not quite right. Don’t get me wrong - it’s good. I just think it could be better. But it’s a great place to go for the bar and for the water views. It’s not cheap.
