We were hyped to try the Seafood boil.
The crab was delicious but overall it was average.
Strawberry daiquiri alcoholic and nonalcoholic Cocktails were amazing, I loved the bubble idea.
The atmosphere and vibe of the place is awesome, I enjoyed it.
The waiters were very friendly and the manager came to check up on us a few times.
We might go back and try different menu items.

Little restaurant but drinks and food were great. Definitely worth a visit. We got the meat platter which was delicious and the seafood boil which was good. You've got to be open to a different flavour for the seafood boil if you're used to having your seafood in a chutney. Great portions!

Seafood Boil
Booked my family of 9 to have dinner. Waiter was not friendly and didn't smile and was not welcoming. Never once checked on us while dinning. Didn't hv much options with beverage quantity and variety.
There was a mop and cleaning stuffs near our table. This is extremely unhygienic. I was totally disappointed 😞

Chicken Strips and Rice
My family & I were excited to try out this new place upon seeing reviews from these so called "influencers" on Facebook. The food was absolutely horrible. We tried out the seafood boil & seafood paella, the dish looked absolutely delicious, but when we tasted the dish, it was absolutely disgusting. There was absolutely no flavour , the potatoes were raw ,the rice was salty , the prawns & calamari tasted as if they just boiled it & threw it in the pot. I honestly do not recommend this restaurant. & as for the atmosphere, the music played by the DJ was so loud, felt as if we were at a nightclub. With regards to the service ,the staff were very welcoming & efficient.
I would've been better off eating a pie. Soo not worth it !

My visit to Brick and Coal in Ballito was a delightful experience from start to finish. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by friendly staff, setting the tone for a pleasant evening. The restaurant had a vibrant ambiance with great music, creating a lively atmosphere that added to the overall enjoyment.
We were promptly seated and our orders were taken swiftly. To our delight, we were served classic Coca-Cola in glass bottles, adding a nostalgic touch to the dining experience.
However, the real highlight of our meal was the famous seafood boil, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Every component of the seafood was cooked to perfection – plump and juicy prawns, fresh mussels, and flavorful crab. The baby potatoes absorbed all the delicious sauce, making them an unexpected delight. And, dipping the crispy chips into that flavorful sauce was an absolute must-try.
While the dish was fantastic overall, it could have used just a tad more salt to enhance the flavors even further. Nevertheless, this was a minor issue that could easily be adjusted to personal taste.
In conclusion, Brick and Coal in Ballito is a restaurant that excels in providing a warm welcome, a vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly, a memorable seafood experience. The seafood boil, with its succulent prawns and delectable mussels, is worth every penny of the 350 price tag. If you're in the mood for seafood, this place is a must-visit. Can't wait to be back and try out more of their menue!

We went tonight, being a Wednesday it was quiet ,only two other tables were occupied. The atmosphere was good.
We ordered a garlic and cheese flatbread and I have to give this a 1/10 because it was just awful. It was more like an undercooked vetkoek and definitely not a flatbread. I love flatbreads and this one should be taken off the menu completely. It was not flat in any way and on top of being undercooked it had a sour taste.
We also ordered chips as an extra side and several of the chips were not completely cooked, they were still hard on the inside - disappointing. We did ask for spicy rice but were told it was all sold out.
We ordered the seafood boil for our mains and it was good, a solid 7/10 but a little too salty, like to the point were you needed to add some form of starch to balance out the level of saltiness hence the extra order of chips.
The service was really lacking, our waitress was a trainee which I found out after asking her a few questions about the menu to which she had to keep reverting to the manager for assistance. That’s okay , but the main issue was there was little attention to detail and an overall lack of professionalism which should be addressed. The barman was helpful though and eventually took over our table. This place has the potential to be amazing but it isn’t quiet there yet.

The best bean curry I’ve ever had, and I’m from Cape Town!
Their portion sizes are generous, everyone at my table had curry and we each had to get take aways. The people who had beef and land curry said the meat fell off the bone and loved the flavours.
They also have a lovely chai latte.

Mutton Curry Bunny
I visited the restaurant today. The service was exceptional. I ordered two meals, a mutton bunny chow and 8 grilled queen prawns.
The prawns were absolutely delicious. Definitely value for money. It was way bigger than queens. More like King prawns.
The mutton bunny was a disappointment for me. It was extremely oily so much so I couldn’t eat it so I sent it back. The waitress and chef made me a new one however the second one lacked flavour and seemed watered down. I didn’t end up eating it. I took it as a take away and will most probably give it away. I was also quite surprised when I was charged for extra gravy which I couldn’t eat because I had sent the oily gravy back.
I brought it to the waitresses attention however it wasn’t taken off the bill.

I had the most fantastic butter chicken and roti here. Very very good.
The prices are also great. I spent R220 for two drinks, one main and one dessert.

This place is amazing.. My husband and I drove there from PMB just for the seafood boil and we were not disappointed at all.. We had ordered the shisanyama platter, a prawn bunny and the seafood boil and the seafood boil was really the star, so flavourful and yummy. The meat platter and prawn bunny was just as amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the owner was very welcoming. We will definately be visiting again soon. :D
