An exceptional dinner with friends tonight. A wine list that’s second to none and a large part of it available by the glass . . Curated by an MW each selection is pretty much guaranteed to appease you. Then the food !! From the cupboard of a kitchen the most delectable morsels arrive created by the hottest chef in Hawke’s Bay and beyond . Potato doughnuts with Ortiz anchovy and chermoula, the most sinful hash fries , spanner crab toast, puffed halloumi, pork belly with scallops and so many more . Mike, Carlita and Victoria are hospo gods . We’ll be back ! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

One of the best dining experiences I've had in NZ. Food was delicious and delivered with a good cadence. Service was friendly and attentive, and as you might expect the wine menu and recommendations were on point. Overall just a great experience - hope to have the opportunity to come back sometime. Price per person $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It was worth waiting for the opening. A fantastic addition to the Hastings dining scene. A brilliant selection of wines that comes with a wealth of knowledge that means you'll surely find a wine that suits the occassion, mood and of course the food. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive the staff make the entire experience something you just want more of. Bravo!

Fantastic little wine spot in Hastings with a huge wine list of some very nice wines. We did the wine tasting for $15 which gets you a decent sized taster of 5 wines along with a little background of each. Very friendly and knowledgable staff.

Chef’s Choice menu was great value and very tasty - but the best bit of a wonderful experience was the wine matching and service. Seriously excellent, highly recommend! Wishing the wine club subscription was available for Aus delivery!!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

An outstanding dining experience, wine paring recommendations were on point, really friendly service but not pretentious in any way, not just a shiny jewel in the Hawkes Bay food scene but Aotearoa as well! And the special surprise, on my wife's birthday, at the end, just took the lunch from 5 stars to 6! A big thank you to the 495 Team! First time diner at 495 and the host went above and beyond. I always order tomato juice and they had run out. He suggested I order something else red (very funny) and whilst drinking this, informed me that they now had tomato juice. Myself and my girlfriends were very impressed. Oh and the food was devine too! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Nice little venue with great food. Would have been higher rated but service was slow. Considering there were only two or three small tables in there when we went, we had to keep flagging down the waitress for drinks. She was more interested in chatting to a friend with a dog (in a food place???). Price per person $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Chips
