My wife and I were cruising home from a night away and wanted to stop for breakfast. We stumbled on the Chalet by accident and decided that since we were already here, why not try it out. Within 10 minutes of ordering, we had our food. And it was amazing. The service was great and I don't know how we missed this restaurant in all the years we have been coming to Newport. The Chalet is our favorite restaurant for breakfast in Newport. They have an extensive menu, impressive display of desserts, and excellent wait staff. This is a casual restaurant with plenty of seating. They are popular, so there is often a wait. It doesn't usually take long before a seat becomes available though. I love ordering their biscuits and gravy with strips of bacon. It is delicious! I also recommend their blueberry crumble coffee cake. We purchase one on occasion to take home. They do have other menu options that are just as wonderful, but my favorite is the biscuits & gravy. I highly recommend having breakfast at the Chalet. Beautiful place with great service. The food is excellent and the selection is overwhelming! They have everything and serve breakfast all day, well, until closing time which 4pm. Really wish they would be open for dinner. 15 years ago, my wife and I stumbled upon this place and it was absolutely perfect. We were newly married then and this time we came back to Newport with our 4 kids and knew we had to come here. We were not disappointed with the food, friendliness of the staff, the environment or affordability. 10/10 recommend!!! And btw, this coconut pie is freaking amazing. They must put some kind of secret ingredient in the pies because nothing else compares. Decent food. Fish was unfortunately not fresh, definitely frozen fish filets. (At the coast, I was hoping it would taste fresh). It was however some of the best tarter sauce I've ever had. The kids' pizza looked and tasted like a personal size Red Barron cheese pizza microwaved. However, the other menu items ordered were enjoyed. The kids enjoyed their pie/cheesecake, while the adults felt the pies were lacking, especially when pie is in the business name.
