Four of us went in after a round of golf. Place was clean, service was great, and their Philly sandwich was awesome. 12 inch hogie roll and I would guess close to a pound of meat, onions, and peppers. Veggies were not cooked to death. Just enough to be soft and flavorful. I opted to upgrade to onion rings which were also very good in my opinion. Crisp and just a little greasy! We were in the neighborhood and Desert Penguin has become my go-to when I'm in East County. I've never been disappointed and each time I visit I try something new. On this visit we tried the Baja Boats (potato wedges) and they were delicious. We had the Philly which came with seasoned fries and the carne asada plate which came with rice, beans, tortillas and sauteed jalapeños. Waited for 30 minutes and no one even took our drink orders. The people who walked in right before us had their orders taken immediately as they were seated. We had to walk out because we have appointments all day and unfortunately cannot wait 30+ minutes for someone to finally get around to taking our order

The food is excellent in taste and appearance. The atmosphere is perfect for a family gathering, friendly girls night out, guys chatting and the Bar is huge. Hundreds of beers, mixed drinks and liquor. Restroom is clean and spacious. The music is perfect and the mix is right.

I'm giving this a 4 star because yesterday our group came in, ordered drinks and food and the waitress told us they ran out of french fries but we could order onion rings or coleslaw...but at a cost of 1.99 upcharge. Hello why make the consumer pay more when they ran out of ff?? If you want people to come back that charge should not have been made. Food was okay, wait staff was incredible, atmosphere is so nice but the upcharge ,ridiculous! We aren't cheap ppl but feel that was wrong on the part of the restaurant. Generally they’re great. Tonight; I’m so disappointed. I ordered a burger and penguin fries for pick-up and I was told to give them 15 mins. I did that arrived and let them know I was there to pick up my food. 30 mins later I’m home opening my food. A ghetto burger is what I get bread soggy and falling apart not even an attempt at toasting the bread. Let people know when you’re out of product. I was a fan. Now I’m not. We ordered a Philly cheese steak and Ruben sandwiches. No cheese or any kind of sauce on the cheese steak, no sauce on the Ruben. French fries could have been delicious but were cold. Very disappointed Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20
