Beautiful location, so I was really looking forward to this. The waitress was nice but they didn't have half the stuff that was on the menu. I opted for an Asian calamari salad, which turned out to be shredded red cabbage topped with avo (this is not what it says on the menu). If you don't have the ingredients like ginger or carrots, let the customers know. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 150–200 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

I apologise in advance if this review sounds like one big moan, honestly I never leave bad reviews but this evening was just too much and we so regretted giving the Hout Bay Manor Restaurant a try. The waiters did their best (I think) but they were clearly very understaffed. We saw our waiter once, he forgot our water order and our food hadn’t arrived after over an hour of waiting. We went into the restaurant twice to try find out where the food was. When it eventually came, it was of very poor quality. The buns for our kids burgers were so dry they were crumbling when they tried to pick them up. We had the steaks, both very overcooked, served with a side of extremely over salted very saucy vegetables and some dry mashed potatoes. We had a few fries and left (we paid the full bill as we bust wanted to go home by that point) but we honestly shouldn’t have. I hope the manager reads this review as today just wasn’t good enough. We would rather have just been told they aren’t able to offer food and we would have gone elsewhere. Unless things change at this establishment, I would recommend you don’t visit there for food. My husband, I and another couple made reservations to have dinner here on Xmas Eve. Our reservations were made on-line and we promptly responded “confirmed” when sent a reminder. Imagine our dismay to arrive all dressed up only to find the restaurant “closed.” We then spent the next 45 min driving around Hout Bay to find something open and available on Xmas Eve?!?!? We ended up at the British Pub. Not quite the evening ambiance we had anticipated. Seems someone neglected to update the reservations online calendar:( So, nope, can’t really tell you anything about it. Meal type Other Service: 1

Had a delightful High Tea (R165 pp). Beautiful venue, attentive and friendly staff, delicious selection of sweet and savoury treats to eat. The tea has room for improvement as it was not an enjoyable strong blend of ceylon tea. Other than that, it was worth it. Spectacular views and delightful drive to Houtbay was a bonus. Well worth a visit to Houtbay Manor.

The food is far above average. Fresh and tasty; the service is highly professional and staff are friendly & helpful. Ordered the vegetarian ciabatta and fries, and a bespoke burger request. Presentation good with little hints of the hotel's African decor theme pulled into the skewers. The food was outstanding. 👌

Hubby and I had dinner here. Absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend. Lovely decor, clean and tidy. Our waitress Nolly took great care of us. We had the gnocchi and the steak for mains, really worth the price and definitely a memorable meal! We loved the background music and calmness of the restaurant! We had a family visiting and she was staying over In Hout Bay. Glad we decided on Eat. Secure parking in the gated estate. The setting is very pretty and we would certainly come back for a summer lunch at the pool. We were a group of 7 and we all enjoyed our dishes and the restaurant was quiet so we could chat without shouting above loud music. Dishes we had Madras Lamb, Mkhani Chicken Curry, Massaman chicken curry, Umbrian chicken, Phad Thai - chicken, Tom Yum Soup, Angry Duck. Desert - Chocolate Fondant, Malva.

Love this restaurant. It's such a treat to be in such beauty. Food is always lovely, just as the service is usually rather slow. But who cares, when you are having a lazy lunch? What I did find disconcerting was that my main was brought while I was still busy with my starter. Quite unacceptable, but I stupidly did not object, so I rushed my starter and had luke warm food. Lesson learned........Scones were great, as was coffee. One of my fave places. Need to put a banister up the stairs. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Terrible place. We booked it 2 times: once they were just closed without warning us in advance. We gave this place a second chance, and ended up waiting 45 minutes for someone to take our order, but the waiters were too busy standing doing nothing.... Service: 1
