I had the privilege to visit Elle Bites in Vosloorus during December 2021. It has been a long time coming because the pandemic just delayed my visit a couple of times. I speak from a point of knowledge, because this dining spot/eatery is from a friend of mine who I have known since 2018 and he shared his ambitions of opening a catering business/eatery in his residential area. And I am happy to have finally witnessed it. It was my first time in Vosloorus in the East Rand/Ekurhuleni, so the trip was monumental for me who frequents Johannesburg central/north. I behaved like a tourist, taking pictures of almost everything. While driving around Vosloorus, I was impressed with the idea of how many eateries and small businesses there are. It means that the area takes entrepreneurship serious. I then went ahead to ask my friend/entrepreneur/chef: "what makes Elle Bites different? Are you not concerned with the idea of how almost everyone serves the same food?". And he said that what distinguishes Elle Bites is the idea of cleanliness and value for money. I agree here. I craved for hake and chips and they delivered within a reasonable waiting period and it was tasty. I did not have to ask for extra seasoning or something. I was also happy with the portion size. My other friend had the beef special. We described the portion size as "generous". The only criticism I have about Elle Bites is that they are not very big on desserts for those of us with the sweet tooth 😄 however, my friend claimed that he is particularly focused on a specific segment of the market and not necessarily the sweet delicacies. That is a fair enough claim. Over and above all, I recommend Elle Bites and to experience the vibrancy that is Vosloorus. Support local because local is lekker!
