While I was in Lewiston ID I was looking for a steakhouse. Some locals recommend Ernie's. I sat in the bar as it has a beautiful view of the valley below. Had a great server, well knowledged in the dishes. Had the porterhouse. Prepared perfectly. I would definitely come here again. Our party of 4 was completely satisfied. The ribeyes were cooked perfect and melted in our mouths. The building is just beautiful and the views stunning. Prices were reasonable too. Keep up the good work Ernie! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

One star deducted because of very long waiting times both, outside and inside, even though the restaurant was only sparsely occupied at a Monday night. Apparently Ernie has a massive staff shortage. Anyway, the remained staff does a good job. The food itself ranges from "alright" to "excellent" (specifically the prime rib). We have eaten here a few times. Never had issues, and the food was always good. This last Saturday night, our son turned 21 and chose Ernies as the place he wanted to go to dinner. There were 7 people and 1 toddler. Our bill was almost $400. That included the outrages gratuity that they tacked on. The food was slow coming out. 2 of us only had burgers. 1 person in our party paid for their own. But because she sat with us they slapped them with the automatic gratuity to. Great food, amazing views, excellent service. They also have a selection of local wines on the menu. I was especially happy with the prime rib - the seasoning was outstanding! We arrived around 2pm on a weekday, so can't say what it's like when they are busy. The one issue we ran into had nothing to do with the restaurant: we took a Lyft over to Ernie's from our hotel in Clarkston, but had trouble getting one to take us back. We were there on a Tuesday. I tried calling the manager first, but no return call, they couldn't be bothered. Our party was there for 3 hours for dinner, very slow service, extremely slow food turn out, charge you for "doubles" when they definitely weren't, slapped us with an auto gratuity of 20% + 3.5% on top of everything to use my debit card. Five star dining prices without the service & quality of food. I've never had it take 3 hours to have dinner in my life! Ridiculous! I don't usually write reviews, but our Valentine's Day dinner at Earnie's was a bit of a letdown, so I gotta spill. Let's talk about the service first. Our waitress was this young 19-year-old, which is cool as long as she knows what she's doing. But she kept reminding us of her age, and she checked on us so often we couldn't even finish a sentence without her interrupting. We heard about a Valentine's Day special, but she didn't seem to know much about it and had to ask her manager. The food came out pretty quick, but our baked potatoes were totally burnt, with a thick, tough skin that was impossible to cut through. When we mentioned it, she got the manager, who offered to replace them with loaded mashed potatoes. Cool, right? But when the manager brought them out, she dropped mine on the table, mumbled a sorry, wiped it up with her bare hand, and left without a word. And we never got those mashed potatoes. Overall, I was really disappointed. I'd heard good things about Earnies, but this was a letdown. Oh, and when she brought the bill, she forgot to give us a pen, so I couldn't even leave feedback.
