Martha and her staff are great. The food is always fantastic. I personally recommend the ribeye or filet steak, they are cooked to perfection. If you haven't given it a try, you must. You won't be disappointed.

Fénix is unprecedented in La Manzanilla. The menu and food is amazing and delicious but that is not only what makes this restaurante so special. The people are what makes this environment so unforgetable and a must to visit. Fénix is the brainchild of the superwoman, Martha. When you meet her you know. Very confidant but also immensly humble. A rare combination. She has amassed an incredibly loyal and dedicated group of local women to make this place so inviting to visit. You can tell they all love one another and enjoy working together very much.
I am biased. I was lucky enough to meet Martha and had the privilege of seeing her away from the Fénix. Martha has grown up in La Manzanilla and Los Ingenious and her family roots run deep here. I learned right away that she knows all the locals and has time for every single person that comes to jubilantly say hola. She also seemed to know many of the expats and tourists. I slowly started to notice a lot more. She knew peoples pets names, she remembered interesting aspects of peoples lives. Most importantly, and most strikingly, she was unselfishly helping everyone we interacted with in some way. Not just small stuff either. If she wasnt helping a visiting friend navigate having a broken foot operated on, she was spending time helping another grieve the death of a loved one. She helped arrange one on one spanish lessons for me and drove the maestra from the bus and back again. Between helping every single person we interacted with, and running growing successful business, she doesnt seem to rest either. It has been truly inspirational.
On Mondays, she has the Wolfman Of Barra play at Fénix. This night is very popular and is an evening filled with good food and dancing. Be prepared to meet and mingle with a lot of friendly people enjoying themselves! Make sure to make reservations so you get a seat.
I really appreciate that the Fénix is open Mon-Fri. Weekends are spent with family and friends because that's most importante.

Very good food, wonderful atmosphere!! I was a little upset about a restaurant in a small Mexican town not serving any Mexican food - all North American fare here, but the food was Awesome!!

Last Night my friends and I had the pleasure of dining at Fenix La Manzanilla , a charming family-run restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The menu was filled with tempting options, but we ultimately decided to split the ribeye, fettuccine con Camaron along with a spinach salad.
Let me start by saying that the fettuccine con Camaron was an absolute delight. The ribeye was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The fettuccine pasta was cooked al dente and coated in a rich, creamy sauce that complemented the savory taste of the ribeye beautifully. The fettuccine was the BEST I’ve ever had.
The spinach salad that accompanied the main course was a refreshing and healthy addition to the meal. The spinach leaves were fresh and crisp, perfectly dressed with a tangy
Balsamic vinaigrette that brought out the natural flavors of the greens. The salad was topped with crunchy bacon, nuts and a sprinkling of feta cheese, adding a delightful texture and a touch of saltiness.
Order dessert the passion, fruit, chocolate mousse is to die for.
Aside from the outstanding food, the service at Fenix was top-notch. Anne was attentive, and every request was met with a smile. Angie made us some wonderful cocktails. I had the passionfruit margarita and loved it! Marta accompanying the new chef were magic in the kitchen.
The ambiance of Fenix was cozy and inviting, with soft lighting and tasteful decor that added to the overall charm of the restaurant. My friends that are visiting said it was by far their favorite meal of their trip.
Fenix is a hidden gem that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Combined with the exceptional service and cozy atmosphere, Fenix La Manzanilla is a restaurant that will leave you craving for more.
Wishing Martha and Crew the best of luck!!
