I was in the Traverse City area and was looking for some good Chinese food options. Fu Hua seemed to get decent reviews so I thought I’d give it a try. At first impression, the restaurant seemed pretty rundown. I decided to order the orange chicken combination plate and crab rangoons. Simply put, I just was not impressed. I have had worse Chinese food, but I have also had a lot better. The rice and egg rolls were probably the best tasting part of the meal. The chicken had a very sweet coating that I didn’t care for. The rangoons had runny cheese that I found disgusting. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend.

This place definitely hit the spot!! We were warmly greeted and the customer service was great! We ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Chicken Curry, and House Fried Rice. We also ordered the Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, and Egg Drop Soup! Everything we got was delicious, and we'll definitely be back. Was out of town staying at a hotel while we got my car fixed. Plenty of good reviews so we gave it a try and the wife was craving some Chinese. My wife got the sweet and sour and I got the orange (mild hot). The dark meat was actually so bad it made me feel sick. The white meat on my wife's sweet and sour was fantastic. I took my meal back (with receipt) and the chef was IMMEDIATE to fix my problem. He made the orange chicken with the same deep fried type white meat as the sweet and sour chicken. Kudos to them for the quick service. Literally in and out! The second time around the food was so much better but I had almost lost my appetite by this time. No worries, it's good enough to reheat now. Fantastic place and I think our food accounted for over 3 pounds of food for $32. Relatively cheap for the area. Oh, and the chicken fried rice is actually as great as other reviewers found it to be. My suggestion to this company: Drop the dark meat as standard - it's really bad, way too chewy and stringy. White meat remains superior! Other than that, thank you for fixing my food fast. 5 star for the service. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Out of all the places in TC this is my favorite!! Food is great EVERY time and fast! I had something missing from my order for the first time in my many years of eating here and they told me to come on back and fixed it up right away. I had the sesame chicken. I see what people are talking about as far as the chicken texture. It seems a little over cooked/fried. The chicken in the fried rice is soft as if it was boiled with the rice then “fried”. It tastes like boiled chicken. The favor tastes like the usual/classic Chinese flavor. If you have high expectations, I don’t know if it will be met in Traverse City with certain foods BUT this Chinese food is good. I would buy again. Great east side spot. It's exactly what you're looking for when you're in the mood for Chinese take-out. Love stopping in for lunch or take-out for dinner. Owners/staff are some of the friendliest folks I know. Egg rolls and soup are outstanding. Sesame chicken and beef and broccoli are always a reliable choice. People need to know… I’ve been to many places that serve hot and sour soup. I’ve never had hot and sour soup that has the consistency of jelly or jam. It was nothing like soup.
