My little family and I loved going to gengys. They are fussy eaters when they want to be but seeing they could make their own meal and watch it cook in front of them they were happy and ate it all. Would definitely recommend going Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

First time to this restaurant and was very impresed with things overall. Excellent staff service which stood out the most. Great food and excellent place to our grandkids for koro's birthday. A special highlight was the staff making a birthday cake out of pancake, ice-cream, toppings and a candle. They even had chopsticks for us to use when we asked. Would highly recommend to all. Looks like the change of ownership has killed the old. Got there and was told by a very fast talking young man with a thick accent to pay up before eating. I struggled to understand the young man and asked two or three times before I understood what was happening. We felt rushed and pressured to finish our meals and get out and having the staff eat their evening meal facing us at next table didn't help the matter. All in all we didn't get what we paid for and came away feeling deflated and hungry. It's an all you can eat restaurant but when they rush you out the door obviously to save themselves money it's not worth it and we would've been better off going to a restaurant that appreciates the patronage. We have been to Gengy's all over the North Island , this one is right up there with the best but with twice the room . The variety of food was unbelievable . And did i mention the sea food it was so fresh . The staff throughout were of the highest quality . The system that was in place once you are seated had been will worked out . They give you a card with 2 # on , table # & guess # . You go select a variety of food take to BBQ give them your card and go back to your table and wait for your meal to be delivered . No waiting in line , you wait relaxing at your table sipping on your wine aahh .

Has this place changed ownership? Prices of drinks were extreme compared to what we would usually pay, service was poor. Food was extremely over cooked and salad bar was poor. It’s all-you-can-eat with a difference. Food is cooked while you wait. There’s pancakes, seafood, meats, ice cream, jelly, vegetables, and a great selection of sauces. The place is also licensed (cocktails, wine, etc). The kids loved the options and combinations. Will visit again!

Front staff were delightful but a lil disorganized & unapproachable. My rating is because we arrived early, didn't have a table ready for myself & friend. We paid firstly, bought drinks, was ignored, waited past the time we should have sat at a reserved table( pre booked). Asked to be sitted. Ignored. Apparently still cleaning table from last customers. But non of the Staff did anything to sort it. After being ignored approx 10mins a lovely Chinese lady I assume manager cared enough to ask if we were ok. I told her we were still waiting for our table. She found us a table to sit at. 10 min later a Front staff member sat others at our table and moved us to the center of the crowded room. Unbelievable we arrived early, paid, had a reservation, bought drinks, waited, ignored, finally seated after 10mins & moved because someone else became a priority. Thank you Front of house staff By now I was annoyed. 😕 So we proceed on... The food was delicious and fresh. Thank you staff on the Hot plate. Highlight of the whole experience was the Chinese lady, I assume she was the manager/ owner. She is terrific. She changed my mind & the experience started to get better. She was polite, approachable, very welcoming and so delightful. Thank you Lovely Lady for making the evening better. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
