Very authentic chinese cuisine, the chef came out to the front desk for us to see and praise his outstanding cooking. Every dish we ordered was superb. Totally would recommend

Authentic tasting Chinese. Came here 6 pm on a Tuesday, place wasn’t very busy which is surprising in retrospect. Everything was very tasty, fresh and flavorful. Got the chicken friend rice, stir fry veggies in garlic sauce (so good), and the sweet and sour chicken (good flavor, not overly breaded). Also requested chili oil and that was a great add to the rice. Highly recommend stopping if you’re in Te Anau. (Excuse the blurry chicken photo)

I could say this is the best Chinese dishes that we had during this NZ south island trip! Definitely worthes the overall ⭐️4.8 point. Not a big menu but a traditional homemade taste with an affordable price! Highly recommend the hot&sour chicken noodles and the gongbao chicken (sweet&sour chicken)

Hot & Sour Chicken Noodles Soup
It was a big surprise to us! After a busy sightseeing and a long drive day we ended up with the delicious authentic Chinese food! We ordered more than enough for us but ate almost all. Full and satisfied. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone who travels to Te Anau, New Zealand. Thank you!
Love the Chinese cuisine at the Glow Worm restaurant in Te Anau. Excellent customer service and very generous portions. The manager gave us complimentary tea and lamb skewers too. Great selection for the dinner menu, they also do Western and Chinese mixed breakfast buffet too.
Big portions, tastes fine - good Chinese food but not mindblowing. Friendly staff but we had to ask for bigger plates and were only given a fork - had to find my own knife and spoons to serve.
The hot and sour soup , corn and chicken soup and seaweed and egg soup were watery and tasteless. The Sweet and Sour pork was the only good thing we had and it was very nice, I don't know why it's called glowworm even, maybe they could put some led lights up in the rafters or something. We had a noodle dish as well but it was not at all memorable. Staff were attentive but dishes came out in weird order like, sweet and sour pork , then two soups, them ten minutes later another soup them the noodle dish five minutes after that.

Absolutely delicious food, generous portions perfect for sharing, and lovely staff.
Easy to get a table for dinner despite the town centre being packed out & food came swiftly - imagine will get busier as people realise how good it is!

We order 3 dishes and three soups. Soups tasted terrible. Seaweed n egg soup n chicken with corn soup tasted worse than instant noodles soup. Hot n sour soup was nothing but spicy. Noodles and sweet and sour pork was acceptable but the chicken with mixed vegetables was pretty bland too. As an Asian coming to a Chinese restaurant, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone for the food. However, the servers were friendly and polite. Other than that, pls choose better options.
